Primary objective
The Workforce Planning Officer is responsible for managing the planning and implementation and communication of initiatives
that enhance workforce performance, productivity, and recognition programs. The role also provides expert input, advice, and high-
level administrative support for sector-wide workforce planning and development policies, programs, and initiatives.
Context statement
Strategic Workforce Planning and Development’s strategic remit is to: build and grow employee capability in the NTPS workforce,
focusing on core capability and leadership development; and deliver sector wide organisational and workplace culture initiatives
and projects that are contemporary, maximise employee engagement, and drive organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide input, advice, planning and support for workforce planning and development policies, programs, and initiatives across
the team.
2. Support and assist with the financial management and procurement requirements of programs and initiatives.
3. Coordinate and manage application processes, judging and submission of nominations for whole of sector reward and
recognition and workforce development initiatives, including development and maintenance of clear guidance material, and
supporting communications to promote awareness and participation
4. Develop and maintain productive partnerships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders including working collaboratively to
plan and deliver coordinated workforce communications and engagement activities.
5. Prepare quality correspondence, briefings, reports, and memorandums.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated program/project administration, coordination, implementation, and monitoring experience.
2. Knowledge and experience in procurement and financial management processes.
3. Well-developed experience in office procedures and systems, including the use of information technology systems, learning
and development systems, word processing, spreadsheets, email applications and digital publishing or content management
systems.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear and engaging content for diverse audiences,
supported by strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks to achieve multiple outcomes simultaneously,
exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and promote the objectives of the unit.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of contemporary workforce planning and development issues.
