In this newly created role, the Coordinator, Cultural Safety will provide leadership, strategic coordination, and expert advice to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety across the Northern Territory region.

Location: Darwin (Palmerston) - Larrakia Country
Employment Type: Ongoing| Part-time or Full-time with flexible work pattern available.
Salary: Social & Community Services 6 | $58.37 to $60.95 per hour + Super

About this opportunity

The Coordinator, Cultural Safety plays a critical role in strengthening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety across YWCA programs in the Northern Territory. Providing strategic leadership and trusted cultural advice, the role supports culturally responsive practice, policy, and service delivery, and ensures the ongoing implementation and improvement of the YWCA Cultural Safety Framework.

In this role you will:

Lead the coordination, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Cultural Safety Framework, including action planning, measures, and reporting.
Provide trusted, high-level cultural advice to leaders and teams, supporting respectful engagement, decision making, and change.
Support the establishment and coordination of the Cultural Advisory Body and strengthen culturally responsive governance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Land Councils.
Embed cultural safety across policy, practice, service design, and workforce capability, including coordinating cultural safety training pathways.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, kinship systems, community dynamics, and protocols, particularly within the Northern Territory context.
Demonstrated experience influencing organisational culture, building workforce capability, and driving strategic and systems level change.
High-level problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate culturally complex matters using trauma informed and culturally safe approaches.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with staff, Elders, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and external partners.
Clear, adaptable communication skills and strong interpersonal capacity to engage respectfully across diverse settings.
