Accounts Administrator (Reception)

Join one of North Queensland's leading removals & logistics companies.

At Chess Moving North Queensland, we're looking for a highly organised Accounts Administrator to become an integral member of our Business Services team.

This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, following clear procedures and delivering exceptional customer service.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Services Manager, you'll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial administration of the business while providing a professional first impression for visitors and callers.

Working from our Cairns office, you'll follow established systems and procedures to ensure our accounts remain accurate, compliant and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Administration

Daily bank reconciliations
Accounts receivable processing
Accounts payable processing
Customer receipting and payment allocations
Creditor payment preparation
Debtor management and collection follow-up
Cashflow administration
Data entry with a high level of accuracy
Processing journals and general ledger transactions
Assisting with month-end procedures
Maintaining electronic records and filing systems
Preparing reports and spreadsheets
Supporting payroll administration when required

Reception & Administration

Answer incoming phone calls professionally
Welcome customers, suppliers and visitors
Receive deliveries and mail
General office administration
Maintain office supplies
Assist various departments with administrative tasks
Coordinate meeting rooms and reception area

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Highly organised
Extremely accurate with data entry
Confident using computers and learning new software
Friendly and professional with customers
Able to prioritise competing tasks
Comfortable following documented procedures
A strong communicator
Reliable and trustworthy
Able to work independently while contributing to a team

Essential Skills

Previous experience in Accounts Administration, Finance Administration or Bookkeeping
Excellent Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication
High level of numerical accuracy
Professional phone manner
Australian working rights

Desirable (Not Essential)

Experience with Moveware
Experience with accounting software
Experience in transport, logistics or removals
Reception or customer service experience
