This vacancy has been identified to participate in VetPaths

Open Arms’ Client Assist supports national Open Arms service delivery with the Clinical Liaison team embedded within the section. The Clinical Liaison Officer, working under the Assistant Director – Clinical Liaison acts as the interface between Open Arms and DVA services. The Clinical Liaison Officer coordinates with national and regional teams to enhance client service delivery across Open Arms and DVA services, leads the coordination of complex clinical matters and contributes to clinical quality improvements. The role is telephony based with flexible working opportunities once initial training and key proficiency measures are met.

You will be supported through the provision of ongoing learning and development opportunities and funded clinical supervision.

Manages relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals.
Actively promote and support a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite with the ability to quickly learn the systems, equipment and software used in a telephony-based environment.
Adheres to relevant legislation, ethical guidelines and policies pertaining to best-practice client care.
Applies the principles of cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and the Department’s mission, vision, approach and values.

DUTIES

As an APS 6 you will be required to

Provision of nationally consistent clinical guidance to Open Arms staff, demonstrating sound clinical judgement and understanding of policy to ensure positive client outcomes and effective care coordination and service delivery.
Work closely with the Assistant Director - Clinical Liaison to coordinate, triage and provide immediate support to vulnerable veterans and their families.
Manage complex client escalations and cases including preparation of written responses for senior executive staff and stakeholders.
Provide high quality clinical services including intake, risk assessment and referral to eligible Open Arms clients.
Coordinate and provide secretariate services for regular stakeholder meetings with Open Arms and relevant DVA stakeholders.
Liaise with clients’ family members and additional treatment providers and/or other Open Arms/DVA stakeholders to coordinate care.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Currently hold or ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People registration OR
Currently hold or ability to obtain a Working with Children check

In addition to the above, one of the following:

Qualifications as a registered Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR
Qualified Social Worker with membership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) on commencement, OR
A Masters-level counselling qualification and registration with PACFA as a Registered Clinical Counsellor or with ACA at Level 3 or Level 4.

ELIGIBILITY

Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.
