Full Job Description

Help us take Cooler’s telematics solutions into new fleet markets

Cooler is looking for an experienced business development professional to grow our Geotab telematics business beyond our established cold-chain customer base.

This is a genuine new-business sales role. You will identify fleets that could benefit from better vehicle visibility, safety information, asset utilisation, maintenance planning and operating cost control, then help them understand how the right telematics solution can deliver practical value.

You will be supported by Cooler’s management, technical and installation teams, but you will take ownership of prospecting, building relationships and creating a healthy pipeline of new opportunities.

The role is part time, with flexibility in how the working week is structured for the right person.

About Cooler

Cooler is a Brisbane-based vehicle and fleet solutions business with more than 40 years of experience supporting Australian transport operators.

We build, service and repair specialist vehicles, provide mobile fleet support and deliver telematics and fleet technology solutions as a Geotab partner.

Our existing reputation is particularly strong within refrigerated transport and the cold chain. The next stage is to introduce Cooler’s telematics capability to a much broader range of commercial fleets.

That may include transport and logistics businesses, field-service operators, trades, construction, utilities, councils, distribution fleets and other organisations operating multiple vehicles or mobile assets.

The opportunity

This is not an account-management role where you wait for existing customers to call.

Your focus will be opening new doors, understanding fleet problems and developing opportunities in markets where Cooler is not yet well known.

You will be responsible for:

Identifying and approaching prospective fleet customers
Building relationships with fleet managers, business owners and operational decision-makers
Generating qualified appointments and new sales opportunities
Running discovery meetings to understand each customer’s fleet, risks and priorities
Presenting and demonstrating Cooler’s telematics solutions
Preparing proposals and progressing opportunities through to close
Developing referral relationships with vehicle dealers, industry contacts and complementary service providers
Maintaining accurate opportunities, activities and forecasts within our CRM
Working with our technical team to ensure proposed solutions are practical and appropriate
Supporting a smooth handover from sale through to installation, onboarding and ongoing service
Helping Cooler refine its telematics sales approach as the business grows

What you will be selling

Cooler’s telematics solutions can help fleet operators improve visibility and control across areas such as:

Vehicle and asset location
Driver safety and risk
Fleet utilisation
Maintenance planning
Fuel use and operating costs
Electronic forms and workflow
Compliance and reporting
Dash cameras and vision systems
Refrigerated fleet and temperature-related requirements
Broader fleet management and operational reporting

You do not need to be a telematics engineer. However, you must be comfortable learning technology, asking good questions and explaining business benefits clearly.

About you

You are an experienced B2B salesperson who is comfortable creating opportunities rather than relying entirely on inbound leads.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience in business development, territory sales or solution selling
The confidence to prospect by phone, email, LinkedIn, industry networks and face-to-face contact
A practical, consultative sales style
Strong questioning and listening skills
The ability to communicate with both business owners and operational fleet people
Good follow-up habits and personal organisation
Experience maintaining a sales pipeline and using a CRM
The ability to work independently while keeping the broader team informed
Commercial judgement and the discipline to focus on worthwhile opportunities
A current Australian driver licence

Experience in telematics, SaaS, fleet management, automotive, transport, logistics, equipment, technology or other business-to-business services would be highly regarded.

More important is your ability to find opportunities, earn trust and consistently follow through.
