We are currently inviting Expressions of Interest from therapeutic and trauma informed professionals to join our talent pool for upcoming Child and Family Counsellor and Child and Family Advocate positions within our Therapeutic Services team which will work across Midland, CBD and Northam.

We support children, young people, and their families to build skills, strengthen resilience, and heal from the impacts of trauma and adversity, so they can grow into the best version of themselves. We see a future where every child feels safe, supported, and able to dream big, thrive, and reach their full potential in Western Australia.

About us

We deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions to support children, young people and their families impacted by child sexual abuse and other adverse experiences. In this role, you’ll provide specialist therapeutic support, deliver tailored interventions to meet developmental and emotional needs, and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups that empower children and families in their healing journey.

The Child and Family Community Counsellor will take on a clinical case load that addresses children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing through the delivery of therapeutic services associated with the effects of trauma and abuse on children, young people and adults.

The Therapeutic Child and Family Advocate role works closely with WA police to provide therapeutic support to children, young people and families impacted by child sexual abuse and complex trauma. This role is responsible for conducting intake and assessment processes to identify each child and families unique needs and delivering evidence-based interventions that promote healing, resilience, and emotional well-being.

This pool will look to cover part-time and full-time positions across fixed-term and permanent contracts. The positions available will work across the Perth metropolitan area.

Applicants found suitable will be placed in a recruitment pool for up to one year.

We are seeking passionate and committed professionals to join our recruitment pool who have:

Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or other relevant field or continuing education and training in evidence-based practices.

Demonstrated experience of working with therapeutic models of practice.

Demonstrated applied knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice as it relates to child development, adverse childhood experiences.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.

Evidenced understanding and practice knowledge of the neurobiological, social, emotional and developmental impacts of trauma.

Strong teamwork ethos while also being able to demonstrate the capacity to work independently in the delivery of a specialist service to children, young people, and their families.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, with an understanding of working with Aboriginal children and families, including an awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal culture, and an understanding of the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma.
