Community Centre Programs Coordinator

Full‑Time | North Sydney Community Centre

Classification: SCHADS Award Level 3.4 + superannuation

Creative, Community‑Focused, Program‑Building Role

North Sydney Community Centre is a vibrant not‑for‑profit, community‑driven and independently managed organisation offering a diverse range of classes, workshops, events, venue hire, fresh food markets and community programs in the heart of North Sydney. We are seeking a highly organised, creative and community‑minded Community Centre Programs Coordinator to lead the development, scheduling and delivery of our programs and events.

This is a dynamic role for someone who loves working with people, thrives in a busy environment, and enjoys shaping programs that enrich the community. You will coordinate classes, workshops, tutors, and community events, ensuring a seamless experience for students, tutors, visitors and hirers.

You will work closely with the Centre Director and the administration team and collaborate with our Marketing function to ensure high‑quality program content, strong community engagement, and effective promotion across digital and print channels.

About the Role

As the Community Centre Programs Coordinator, you will report to the Director and:

Working with delivery tutors, develop, plan and schedule a diverse, appealing range of classes, workshops and community events
Recruit new, onboard and support all tutors, ensuring high‑quality program delivery
Working closely with the Centre Director you will manage program logistics, communications, budgets, and timelines
Coordinate cross‑program scheduling and shared resources
Lead grant research, applications, reporting and acquittals
Contribute to major Centre events including exhibitions, concerts and community celebrations
Maintain accurate records, data, manuals and systems
Trial new programs in response to community needs and interests
Collaborate with marketing to produce engaging course descriptions and promotional content
Prepare regular reports, statistics and program highlights for committees and funding bodies
Work closely with volunteers and support a welcoming, community‑focused environment

About You

You are someone who brings energy, creativity and strong organisational skills to your work. You enjoy building relationships, juggling multiple priorities, and creating programs that genuinely benefit the community.

You will have:

Strong program coordination experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and strong administrative capability
Experience using databases and digital tools
The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
A collaborative, community‑minded approach
Confidence working independently and as part of a small team
A commitment to equity, dignity and confidentiality
Physical capacity to assist with room setups and equipment (up to 15–20kg)

Desirable:

Qualifications relevant to community programs or events
Experience with Mac, FileMaker, InDesign, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey
Grant writing experience
Understanding of AV equipment and social media platforms
Experience working with volunteers
