About Remtron Automation
Remtron Automation is Schneider Electric's sole certified Industrial Automation Distributor (IAD) in Australia. We design, deliver and commission complete electrical automation and control solutions across a broad, multi-vendor portfolio. Our customers operate complex plant and machinery, and this role turns their process requirements into working, tested and documented automation solutions.
Location
Braeside, VIC (Melbourne metropolitan area) - on-site, with travel to customer sites across Victoria and regional NSW
The opportunity
This hands-on, customer-facing engineering role covers the full project lifecycle: requirements capture, product selection, control-system design, PLC and HMI software development, drives and motion configuration, industrial-network integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning and ongoing technical support. You will integrate equipment from multiple manufacturers into cohesive and robust solutions and manage projects from concept through prototype and deployment.
Key responsibilities

- Design and build operator HMIs using platforms such as Schneider EOTE and Vijeo Designer, B&R mapp View and Pro-face BLUE.
- Integrate and configure variable speed drives and servo/motion systems, including Schneider Altivar, Festo CMMT-AS/CMMT-ST and B&R ACOPOS.
- Integrate multi-vendor PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, motor-management systems and field devices from suppliers including Phoenix Contact, SICK, Festo and B&R.
- Design and configure industrial networks including EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, B&R POWERLINK, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (RS-232/RS-485), OPC UA, IO-Link and MQTT.
- Configure remote I/O, telemetry and secure remote-access gateways, including Phoenix Contact Radioline and Secomea.
- Support functional-safety controller programming and develop complete bills of materials for control systems.
- Plan and execute FAT, document procedures and results, and commission systems on-site and remotely alongside senior engineers.
- Capture customer requirements; prepare turnkey concepts, technical proposals, functional design specifications, test records and reusable templates.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales support, product demonstrations, customer training, fault diagnosis and application advice.
- Manage projects from concept to prototype, maintain CRM activity and market intelligence, and represent Remtron at supplier and industry events.
- Comply with company procedures and all applicable work health and safety requirements.
