The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer – Electrical (Engineer) to join our team, focusing on the design, development, and sustainment of Electrical Harness Systems for Kenworth and DAF truck applications. This role offers the chance to work within a dynamic, multinational environment where you will contribute to innovative truck manufacturing solutions, collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in product quality and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and release electrical harnesses, piping, and components aligned with truck manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and OH&S policies.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align design outcomes with operational and manufacturing needs.
- Manage sustainment activities including REIs, UPOs, BLCRs, PLRs, and DCRs, ensuring timely delivery aligned to manufacturing schedules.
- Lead and nurture supplier relationships, focusing on quality and cost management.
- Provide expert technical advice to Kenworth departments as well as suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluate new products, materials, design enhancements, and manufacturing methods to support innovation.
- Support problem resolution activities related to manufacturing and customer issues.
- Adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining a strong focus on results.
- Build and maintain effective communication networks across multiple teams and departments.
What we like about you:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience within an automotive environment.
- Proficient in Six Sigma, FMEA, Design for Manufacturing, and automotive electronics/harnesses.
- Hands-on experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools; familiarity with 3D/2D engineering documentation.
- Experience with automotive harness design software such as Capital or Saber is highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Excellent time and task management abilities with a proactive approach to workload.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment with a mix of strategic and tactical responsibilities.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and networking skills.
