Full Job Description

Are you someone who enjoys travelling, meeting people and building relationships?

If you like being out on the road rather than sitting behind a desk all day, this could be the role for you.

At Machter Autoparts, no two days are quite the same. One day you might be catching up with an existing customer, the next visiting a new workshop, discussing products with a mechanic or identifying a new opportunity within your territory.

We are looking for a passionate automotive professional to join our growing sales team, looking after South East Sydney Metro, with occasional regional travel as required.

The role will initially focus on maintaining and developing our existing customer accounts within the region. As you become familiar with the territory, customers and products, the position will gradually develop into approximately 50% account management and 50% new business development.

You may already be working in automotive sales, or you might currently be a:

Parts Interpreter
Automotive Parts Salesperson
Automotive Technician
Mechanic
Service Advisor
Workshop or Spare Parts professional

What You'll Be Doing

Managing and maintaining existing customer accounts across South East Sydney
Visiting workshops, mechanics, repairers, retailers and trade customers
Building genuine, long-term relationships with customers
Understanding customer needs and identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts
Re-engaging inactive customers
Identifying and approaching new prospective customers
Gradually building your own new business pipeline
Following up sales opportunities, enquiries and leads
Working closely with our internal sales, customer service and operations teams
Keeping customer visit and sales activity records up to date
Travelling within your territory and occasionally to regional areas

As you grow into the role, your focus will progressively move towards a 50/50 balance of existing account management and new business development.

What We're Looking For

Experience in the automotive parts or automotive aftermarket industry
Good automotive parts and vehicle knowledge
Someone who genuinely enjoys meeting and talking to people
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence dealing with mechanics, workshops and trade customers
A proactive and self-motivated attitude
Comfortable working independently and being out on the road
A current Australian driver's licence

Previous B2B sales or Business Development experience is highly regarded, but not essential.
