About the opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Operations Analyst to play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence within Australia Post’s Transformation Office (EPMO). Working at the heart of our Operations and Delivery Excellence function, you’ll provide strategic and operational oversight across governance, financial management, process optimisation, risk management, and data integrity. You’ll also lead the administration and governance of our Project Portfolio Management (PPM) platform, Shibumi, ensuring robust reporting, consistent processes, and high-quality data that enables informed decision-making across our transformation portfolio.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded analyst to combine governance, finance, systems and continuous improvement expertise in a role with broad exposure and enterprise-wide impact.
What you’ll deliver with us
Commercial & Strategic Priorities
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report on operational risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
- Maintain operational risk registers and ensure alignment with organisational governance frameworks.
- Support audit activities, compliance obligations, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain operational controls and governance processes to improve consistency, accountability, and transparency.
- Provide operational reporting and insights to leadership regarding risk exposure and performance trends.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise the PPM data model, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and alignment with organisational reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain data governance standards, metadata definitions, hierarchies, workflows, and reporting structures.
- Support portfolio reporting, dashboard development, KPI tracking, and data analytics activities
Financial
- Lead the development, monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting of departmental operational budgets.
- Partner with Finance and business leaders to support forecasting, financial planning, accruals, variance analysis, and cost optimisation activities.
- Analyse expenditure trends and provide strategic insights and recommendations to support operational decision-making.
- Ensure financial governance, compliance, and budget controls are maintained across operational activities.
Support preparation of operational funding submissions.

About you
You are an experienced operations, governance or portfolio professional who brings strong financial acumen, analytical capability and a continuous improvement mindset. You have a proven track record managing operational budgets, financial reporting and governance processes within complex enterprise environments, coupled with experience in operational risk management and control frameworks.
With advanced problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail, you are confident working with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) systems, enterprise data governance practices and complex data models to drive accurate reporting and informed decision-making. You have demonstrated success developing and implementing operational procedures, frameworks and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that improve consistency, efficiency and compliance. Highly organised and self-motivated, you thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing competing priorities while building strong relationships across finance, governance, delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
