The Senior Data Analyst will help shape the future compliance and risk program for Victorian government funded kindergarten programs. Working within a supportive team, the role leads a range of improvement projects including complex data analytics, visualisations, and developing practical solutions that support consistent compliance management.
About the Role
The Contract Management Strategy & Analytics Team provides oversight and support for managing kindergarten compliance and risk including strategic analysis, policy, and resources. Our work ensures kindergarten programs are meeting their contractual obligations with the department, providing the best start for children.
The team is responsible for:
- The kinder compliance strategy, including the creation and improvement of compliance and risk management tools and support
- Developing and implementing policy, guidance, and capability uplift for compliance and risk management
- Collect, validate and analyse complex information to identify current and emerging integrity risks
- The ability to turn complex information into clear advice for different audiences
- Leading and develop data visualisation and analytics to support stakeholder communication and complex provider monitoring
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and delivering projects to enhance consistent compliance management
- Collating and cleaning a wide variety of data sources, including identification of gaps in both current data quality and development of new data sources
- Undertaking complex analysis, creating methodology and linkages across disparate data sets and providing advice for compliance uplift
- Data visualisation in a concise and easily accessible format that enables decision making for non-technical audience
- Ability to engage with concepts and ideas, and apply them to operational settings
- Preparation and presenting recommendations in the form of briefings, reports and papers
- Mentoring and development of junior staff
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications and experience in relevant field, including data science, data analytics, or mathematics
- Applicants must be proficient in statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or equivalent.
- Applicants must be proficient in data visualisation programs such as PowerBi, Tableau, or equivalent.
About the Department
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Early Learning Operations and Monitoring Division leads core funding, operational policy, data collection and reporting, financial monitoring functions and contract management policy for funded Three- and Four-Year-Old kindergarten programs in Victoria. This includes a number of sector supports and programs to help ensure viable, well managed services that are accessible to all children.
