Location - Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
Employment type –Temporary (12 Months) and Ongoing role - Full time (35 hours)
Salary – Clerk Grade 7/8, Base Salary ($116,981 - $129,492), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

As an Investigation and Conciliation Officer with Anti-Discrimination NSW, you will play a key role in resolving discrimination complaints and promoting fair outcomes. This is a meaningful opportunity to apply your dispute resolution expertise while contributing to a more inclusive and equitable NSW. You will manage complex and sensitive matters, engage with diverse communities, and influence positive change through fair, timely, and effective complaint handling.

What you’ll do

As part of the Enquiries and Conciliation team, you will analyse, investigate, manage and resolve complaints under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) using appropriate dispute resolution techniques.

You will also:
Analyse complaints and prepare reports, recommendations, and written reasons for decision-makers
Deliver accessible, equitable, and culturally responsive services to diverse client groups
Manage a high-volume caseload within legislative and organisational timeframes
Provide information to the public and explain legal processes clearly and sensitively
Contribute to continuous improvement of complaint handling processes and practices
Work within an administrative law framework
Participate in outreach and community engagement activities as appropriate
Exercise delegated decision-making functions in line with policies and procedures
Work as part of a collaborative and purpose-driven team committed to fairness and inclusion

What we’re looking for

Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve complex, sensitive matters within a legislative framework, using sound judgement and appropriate techniques to achieve fair and practical outcomes.
Proven experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and tribunal or court decisions to inform investigations, recommendations, and decision-making.
Strong ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with diverse stakeholders, including vulnerable clients, and manage challenging or high-conflict situations effectively.
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, analyse complex information, and deliver timely, well-reasoned reports and outcomes aligned with legislative and organisational requirements.
