As the Content and Campaigns Lead, you'll lead the development of high-quality storytelling, content and multichannel campaigns that support Council's vision, values and strategic goals. You’ll champion accessible and inclusive communication, ensure our messages resonate with the right audiences, and help strengthen Banyule City Council’s reputation and inspire community to listen and act.
As a people leader, you’ll lead the team who look after most of Council's external-facing communications channels, including social media, publications, the Banyule Banner, councillor newsletters, media, and marketing functions.You will:
- Lead Council’s storytelling approach across digital, print, social media and publications
- Manage, coach and guide a small team of communication professionals
- Oversee the planning and delivery of creative, data informed campaigns
- Manage the direction and performance of Council’s social media presence
- Contribute to proactive and reactive media activities
- Support the delivery of major publications
- Build strong relationships across Council and with external partners
This role is part of Banyule’s Leadership Network – you’ll have opportunities to grow your skills and experience of leadership in a Local Government context and develop your skills as an organisational leader beyond your role-based expertise.
About you - what you’ll bring/what we are looking for:
You're a confident communicator with a strategic mindset, creative flair and strong leadership skills. You bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, PR, media, journalism, marketing or similar
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated communications and campaign strategies
- Expertise in social media, digital content, audience engagement and behaviour change communications
- Experience leading and motivating a team
- Excellent advisory and stakeholder management capability – from staff on the ground to executives.
- Strong writing, editing and message crafting skills
- An ability to translate complex organisational priorities into compelling, community focused content

- Salary from $113,252.44 to $126,351.47 per annum, plus super.

- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
