About the role:
Drive inclusive sport, recreation and wellbeing outcomes across one of Victoria’s most diverse municipalities. The Club Development and Participation Officer strengthens the capacity of community clubs and recreation groups through governance support, inclusion initiatives and sustainable development programs, while partnering with community organisations to increase participation and remove barriers for underrepresented communities.
You will:
- Design and deliver participation programs that reduce barriers and increase community participation, particularly for underrepresented groups.
- Deliver club development programs, workshops and resources and provide advice on building club governance, volunteer capacity, grant applications and organisational sustainability.
- Lead the delivery of Council’s Fair Access requirements relating to recreation and leisure user groups/clubs, including targeted support for user groups/clubs to complete actions.
- Create and distribute the Leisure newsletter and social media content.
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external community stakeholders.
About you:
- You will have demonstrated experience in sport and recreation development, community development or a related field.
- Understanding of sports club governance, Fair Access requirements, volunteer management and community sport participation principles.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver community programs that increase participation.
- Strong understanding of trends and barriers to sport and active recreation, particularly for under-represented groups.
- Outstanding skills in building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community groups, sporting associations, and government bodies.
- High level administration and computer skills with demonstrated ability to self-manage a busy workload, supporting a dynamic team environment with competing priorities in delivering strong customer focused outcomes.
