Full Job Description

Mörk is looking for an experienced Casual Pastry Chef to join our bakery team in North Melbourne.

Our pastry kitchen produces the pastries and baked goods served across Mörk’s Melbourne venues, from our sourdough cinnamon buns and cookies through to croissants, seasonal pastries and chocolate-led creations.

We’re looking for someone with good pastry foundations who enjoys being part of a busy production kitchen, takes pride in making things well and is happy to jump in wherever the team needs them.

The role

Working alongside our pastry team, you’ll contribute hands-on to daily production across a range of products and processes. This could include mixing and preparing doughs and components, shaping and baking, finishing products and supporting the team to get each day’s production ready for our venues.

There’s plenty of variety in the kitchen, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable moving between tasks and can work confidently and efficiently once familiar with our products and processes.

For someone with broader pastry experience, there will also be opportunities to jump into areas such as viennoiserie and laminated pastry when needed.

About you

You’ll ideally have:

Previous professional pastry or bakery experience
Strong pastry fundamentals and an understanding of production
A good eye for quality, consistency and detail
The ability to work efficiently while still taking care with the product
A practical, team-focused approach and willingness to jump in where needed
Availability for early morning and weekend shifts

Experience with viennoiserie or laminated pastry would be highly regarded, but isn’t essential.

Some shifts commence from around 4:30am, so you’ll need to be comfortable getting to North Melbourne for early starts.
