About the Role

This role will be based at BYD’s Mulgrave office and will support the Marketing team in developing and executing social media strategies for BYD Australia, DENZA Australia, and New Zealand.

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing daily social media activities, creating engaging content, growing online communities, and ensuring consistent brand storytelling across digital platforms.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, dealerships, and external agencies, this role will support the delivery of brand campaigns, product launches, events, partnerships, and retail marketing initiatives.

We are looking for a creative, proactive, and highly organised social media professional who can work independently, move quickly, and develop content that reflects the unique identity and positioning of both BYD and DENZA brands.

Key Responsibilities
1) Social Media Management & Content Execution

Manage daily social media activities, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, and community engagement.

Develop and execute social media content plans aligned with brand campaigns, product launches, events, partnerships, PR activities, and retail initiatives.

Create engaging and culturally relevant content that strengthens brand awareness and customer engagement.

Maintain consistency in brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all social channels.

2) Community Engagement & Brand Advocacy

Monitor and manage online communities, including customer comments, messages, and conversations.

Build positive relationships with customers and brand communities through timely and authentic engagement.

Identify opportunities to increase engagement and strengthen customer advocacy.

Support user-generated content (UGC) initiatives and social listening activities.

3) Campaign & Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to support social media campaigns and ensure alignment with brand objectives.

Coordinate content requirements, creative assets, and campaign execution timelines.

Support marketing activities including product launches, events, partnerships, and retail campaigns.

Ensure social media content effectively supports wider business and marketing objectives.

4) Content Creation & Asset Development

Capture and create social-first content, including video, photography, and behind-the-scenes content.

Produce engaging short-form content suitable for social platforms.

Edit and optimise content using relevant creative tools.

Adapt global/HQ content and assets for Australian and New Zealand audiences.

Ensure all content aligns with BYD and DENZA brand guidelines.

5) Reporting & Performance Optimisation

Monitor social media performance and prepare regular reports on content performance, engagement, and audience growth.

Analyse insights and recommend improvements to optimise content strategy.

Stay updated on social media trends, platform changes, and emerging opportunities.

Key requirements:

Proven experience in social media management, content planning, and digital marketing execution.

Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, audience behaviours, analytics, and best practices.

Hands-on experience in content creation, including video production, photography, and image editing.

Ability to develop engaging content and translate brand messages into compelling customer-focused stories.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and content calendars.

Ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in community management, social listening, and user-generated content (UGC) initiatives.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain brand consistency across all content and communication.

Experience working with external agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver marketing campaigns.

A genuine passion for automotive, technology, lifestyle, or consumer brands is highly desirable.
