Join a supportive tutoring team where you can focus on what matters most: helping students learn, grow and build confidence.
Miss Bianca’s Tutoring is growing, and we are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and caring tutors to join our team at our tutoring studio in Miranda, NSW.
We are seeking tutors across a range of subjects and year levels, from Kindergarten to Year 12 (HSC). Mathematics tutors, particularly those confident teaching senior Mathematics including Mathematics Advanced, and tutors with experience or knowledge across Science subjects are highly desired.
Whether you are a university student, preservice teacher, qualified teacher, recent HSC graduate or simply someone with strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for helping young people learn, we would love to hear from you.
Why join Miss Bianca’s Tutoring?
We want our tutors to be able to focus on teaching, building relationships with their students and developing their skills as educators. We take care of the rest.
As part of our team, you'll receive:
- 100% one-to-one tutoring. You will work individually with students rather than managing large groups or classes.
- Regular, consistent students. Wherever possible, you will work with the same students each week, allowing you to develop genuine relationships, understand their individual learning needs and see their progress over time.
- Regular set shifts during the school term. Build a consistent weekly schedule and income around your other commitments.
- Flexible hours. We can work with you to create a schedule from approximately 4 hours per week through to 16+ hours, depending on your availability and our student needs.
- University-friendly scheduling. We understand that university timetables change. We work with our university student employees around exams, assessment periods, professional placements and semester timetable changes.
- Paid professional development and training. Continue developing your knowledge and teaching practice through team training, professional learning opportunities and selected external professional development.
- Ongoing mentoring and support. You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. Our Head Tutors and Director of Learning provide ongoing guidance with lesson planning, student needs, teaching strategies and professional development.
- All teaching resources supplied. We provide the textbooks, manipulatives, educational games, stationery, whiteboards and other learning resources you need. You do not need to purchase or bring your own teaching materials.
- Private tutoring rooms. Work one-to-one with your student in a dedicated learning space designed to support personalised teaching.
- An established student base. No advertising yourself, finding clients or chasing families. We manage enrolments and provide the students so you can focus on tutoring.
- A collaborative team environment. You'll be part of a team that learns together through training sessions, collaboration, mentoring and team social events.
- Opportunities to grow with us. As Miss Bianca’s Tutoring continues to grow, there are opportunities to progress into positions including Head Tutor, Centre Manager and other leadership roles.
- Above-award pay, with rates starting above $28 per hour, depending on applicable award classifications and experience.
About the role
Our tutors provide personalised, one-to-one support to students from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
Rather than following a one-size-fits-all program, our tutors adapt their teaching to the individual student in front of them. You will work collaboratively with our Head Tutors and Director of Learning to plan engaging sessions that respond to each student's strengths, learning needs, schoolwork and goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and personalised one-to-one tutoring sessions
- Building positive, professional relationships with students
- Adapting explanations, activities and teaching strategies to suit different learners
- Supporting students to develop their knowledge, skills, confidence and independence
- Assisting with school content, assessments and examination preparation where appropriate
- Identifying learning gaps and supporting deeper conceptual understanding
- Planning and selecting appropriate activities and resources, with support available from our senior team
- Completing student session notes and maintaining appropriate records
- Communicating and collaborating with our team regarding student progress and learning needs
- Participating in relevant training and professional development
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, supportive and professional learning environment
Who are we looking for?
There is no single pathway to becoming a great tutor.
We welcome applications from:
- University students studying Education, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or other relevant disciplines
- Preservice teachers
- Qualified teachers
- Recent HSC graduates with strong results and subject knowledge
- Applicants with strong knowledge in the subjects they wish to tutor and the interpersonal skills to communicate that knowledge effectively
Tutoring experience is welcomed but not essential. Training, mentoring and ongoing professional development are provided.
Most importantly, we are looking for people who are:
- Patient, warm and encouraging
- Reliable and professional
- Genuinely interested in helping children and young people succeed
- Able to explain concepts in different ways when a student doesn't understand the first explanation
- Willing to learn and develop their own teaching practice
- Comfortable working with students with different strengths, needs and ways of learning
- Committed to creating an inclusive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace
- Enthusiastic about celebrating student progress and helping students develop confidence and independence
Our approach
At Miss Bianca’s Tutoring, we believe effective tutoring is about much more than completing worksheets or getting through homework.
Our approach is personalised, relationship-based and student-centred. We aim to create engaging learning experiences that respond to each student's individual needs while developing confidence, independence and a positive relationship with learning.
We value inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming practice, student wellbeing, growth mindset, evidence-informed teaching and ongoing professional learning.
Our tutors are supported to continue developing their practice while making a meaningful difference to the students they work with.
Availability
This is a casual position based entirely at our tutoring studios in Miranda, NSW.
Most tutoring takes place during weekday afternoons and evenings during the school term.
Regular term-time shifts are established based on your availability and student demand. Approximately 4 to 16+ hours per week may be available. We are flexible with the number of hours for the right person to ensure a balance between work and life.
School holiday tutoring is more flexible, with additional daytime availability offered depending on tutor and student demand.
Requirements
Successful applicants must:
- Have Australian working rights
- Hold a valid NSW Working With Children Check before commencing tutoring
If you do not currently hold a Working With Children Check, we can provide guidance regarding the requirements and process before you commence.
Interested in joining us?
If you're passionate about your subject area, enjoy working with young people and want a role where you'll be supported to develop as an educator, we'd love to hear from you.
You don't need years of tutoring experience to apply. We are interested in finding people with strong subject knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, reliability and a genuine willingness to learn.
We look forward to hearing from you and potentially welcoming you to the Miss Bianca’s Tutoring team.
