Senior Accountant – Group Accounting (Treasury & Property)

About the Opportunity
At Uniting, we believe in creating a better future for the people and communities we serve. We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Group Accounting team and play a key role in managing our Treasury and Property accounting functions.
Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, managing treasury operations, supporting strategic finance initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across our finance systems and processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a complex organisation, partnering with stakeholders, and making a meaningful impact through high-quality financial leadership.

What You'll Be Doing
As our Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of a broad range of Treasury and Property accounting responsibilities, including:

Managing Uniting's treasury function, including daily cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, bank reconciliations and investment reporting.
Preparing monthly, annual and ad hoc Treasury and Property financial reports.
Preparing Treasury papers and contributing to monthly CFO reporting.
Managing fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation, disposals, depreciation and asset register reconciliations.
Preparing and reviewing Treasury and Property balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances.
Supporting month-end and year-end close activities across the Group Accounting team.
Acting as the Finance subject matter expert for Treasury and Property processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365, identifying opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements.
Supporting Finance Continuous Delivery projects, including automation initiatives, cash flow forecasting improvements and ERP enhancements.
Building strong relationships with banking and investment partners and managing banking administration.
Working closely with Finance, FP&A and operational stakeholders to provide insightful financial analysis and reporting.
Supporting internal and external audits through the preparation of schedules and timely resolution of audit queries.
Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, governance requirements and Uniting policies.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, knowledge sharing and mentoring within the Group Accounting team.

What You'll Bring
You'll be a collaborative finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to influence across a large and complex organisation.

To be successful, you'll have:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA or CA qualification.
At least 5 years' experience in financial accounting, treasury, property accounting, audit or a related discipline.
Experience gained within a Big 4, second-tier accounting firm and/or a large, complex organisation.
Strong knowledge of treasury operations, cash management, fixed assets and financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial reporting and analytical tools.
Experience working with ERP systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience improving processes, implementing automation and driving continuous improvement initiatives, including AI-enabled solutions where appropriate.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to work collaboratively while confidently managing your own portfolio.

Highly regarded:

Experience in shared services or finance transformation environments.
Knowledge of property accounting and corporate finance functions.
Experience within aged care, community services or not-for-profit organisations.
