About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions of Bremick's operations and providing accurate, timely and commercially relevant financial information to management.
Key responsibilities
- Take full financial responsibility for the division, overseeing the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and overall operational financial performance
- Lead end-to-end month-end and year-end processes, including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, journals, reconciliations and management reporting.
- Prepare monthly management reports and perform variance analysis across revenue, margins, operating expenses and working capital.
- Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies and lead budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and commercial analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Partner with operations and supply chain leadership to drive margin improvement, inventory control, cost optimisation and cash flow performance.
- Manage working capital across inventory, accounts receivable and accounts payable within the manufacturing and distribution environment.
- Prepare financial statements for presentation to management, directors, shareholders and relevant governing and statutory bodies.
- Examine operating costs, income and expenditure, and conduct financial investigations and analysis relating to business performance, acquisitions, business sales, mergers, capital financing, taxation and other commercial matters.
- Provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations, including assessing cash flow and financial risks associated with capital investment projects.
- Provide assurance over the accuracy and integrity of financial information and ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Maintain effective internal control systems and accounting processes, including balance sheet integrity and financial risk controls.
- Coordinate statutory reporting, taxation compliance and audit processes, including preparation of taxation returns and liaison with external accountants, auditors and advisers.
- Liaise with financial institutions and brokers to establish and maintain appropriate funds management arrangements.
- Introduce, maintain and improve accounting systems and advise on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
- Support strategic initiatives, systems improvements and operational efficiency projects by providing financial insights and recommendations to management.
About you
- CA or CPA qualified, with strong technical accounting knowledge and a sound understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant professional accounting experience, preferably gained within manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, distribution or a similar operational environment
- Demonstrated experience in month-end and year-end accounting processes, financial reporting, reconciliations and maintaining balance sheet integrity
- Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and operational decision-making
- Strong understanding of internal controls, taxation, statutory compliance and audit processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide practical recommendations to management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operations, supply chain, management and external advisers
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role with responsibility for the financial management and performance of a business division
