We are holding a Youth Worker Assessment Hub – meet the team and see if this role is right for you!

About the role:

As a Youth Worker in our Out of Home Care and Intensive Therapeutic Houses, you’ll support young people aged 12–18. No two days are the same, but everyday matters. You’ll have a supportive team around you and house supervisors who are actively involved to support you. The roles are permanent part-time positions, working 60 hours per fortnight, on a rotating roster.

The ideal person for this role would be flexible, adaptable and someone who brings new ideas and is proactive in their approach. Working with young people displaying highly complex and challenging behaviours, requires you to build rapport quickly and remain non-judgmental. This also requires you to have resilience and good professional boundaries. Candidates with transferrable skills from working with vulnerable people who display challenging behaviours are strongly encouraged to apply.

What you’ll do:

Supporting young people to feel safe, respected and at home.
Applying trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches in daily care.
Building trusting relationships with young people who have experienced adversity.
Supporting life skills, routines and emotional regulation.
Working as part of a supportive, values-driven team.

To be successful in this role, you will have availability to work across morning, afternoon, night shifts, sleepovers and every 2nd weekend on.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll bring resilience, empathy and a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, along with:

Cert IV or Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or willingness to obtain.
Experience in youth work or residential care.
Ability to work therapeutically with young people with complex needs.
NSW Driver’s Licence and own car.
Working With Children Check & Criminal History Check.
Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified candidates:
Formal qualifications are desirable, however lived experience, relevant skills and willingness to participate in training are highly valued.
