The Domestic and Family Violence Support Service (DFVSS) provides specialist trauma-informed support and intervention for individuals and families currently experiencing domestic and family violence. Referrals are received primarily through Emergency Departments and Domestic Violence Routine Screening (DVRS) services.
The role delivers risk assessment, safety planning, brief therapeutic intervention, psychoeducation, advocacy, and coordinated care to enhance client safety, wellbeing, and access to appropriate health, community, legal and support services. The position supports integrated and collaborative responses across health and community sectors to improve outcomes for people experiencing domestic and family violence.
The position is based in Gosford and provides outreach services across hospitals, health facilities, and community settings throughout the Central Coast region. The role also provides specialist consultation and advice to health professionals, contributes to education and training initiatives, and supports service development, workforce capability and quality improvement activities across Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Services.
The primary purpose of the DFVSS Senior Social Worker is to provide specialist social work support to clients currently experiencing domestic and family violence. Referrals may be received from Emergency Departments and Domestic Violence Routine Screening services. Service provision aims to:
- Enhance client safety and wellbeing through comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning
- Deliver responsive, client-centred brief interventions, therapeutic support and psychoeducation
- Facilitate access to health, community, legal and support services through effective care coordination and referral pathways
- Support coordinated and collaborative responses to domestic and family violence across health and partner agencies
- Build workforce capability through consultation, education and knowledge sharing with health professionals
Contribute to service development, quality improvement and evaluation activities that enhance client outcomes and service delivery
