Full Job Description

The Role

The Middle School Wellbeing Coordinators work directly to the Head of Middle and Senior School and

under the strategic leadership of the Director of Student Wellbeing. Along with the Faculty Coordinators

and Studies Coordinators they make up the leadership team under the Head of School. This team provides

Christian leadership, implementation of the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Middle

and Senior School.

They operate as part of the Whole School Wellbeing Team under the Director of Student Wellbeing. The

Student Wellbeing Coordinators are responsible for the overall development of programs and practices

relating to student wellbeing, pastoral care and the management of behavioural development in

conjunction with the Head of Middle and Senior School.

The Student Wellbeing Coordinators are a full-time Position of Responsibility 2 (PR2) and will undertake a

0.56FTE teaching load.

Faith Basis of Appointment

We see the appointment of staff to Trinity Christian School as a ministry calling.

The ethos, aims and objects of a Christian School are based on:

> acceptance of the Lordship of Christ; and

> acceptance of the Bible as the revealed Word of God.

Within Trinity Christian School these are expounded in the Doctrinal Basis.

The Doctrinal Basis does not exhaust the extent of the beliefs of the School and its members. The Bible

itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality,

and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that the School and its members

believe.

You must support the School in these areas and set an example of personal conduct and behaviour

consistent with the School’s beliefs and ethos as outlined in documents made available to prospective

employees prior to interview. Any appointment is conditional upon staff maintaining and demonstrating a

continuing firm personal belief and lifestyle consistent with the School’s Doctrinal Basis and the other

documents provided to staff, this being an essential condition of the appointment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Leadership

> Lead the implementation of a Christ centred direction for student wellbeing from Year 6 to 8.

> Implement key Christ centred student wellbeing objectives with the Middle or Senior School staff,

ensuring that there is understanding, engagement and participation by all.

> Encourage and maintain a climate of quality and excellence across all aspects of student wellbeing in

the Middle Schoolwhile maintaining and further developing a Christian perspective.

> Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as staff, students, and

families within the Middle School.

> Respond strategically and proactively to the changing education sector, lead innovation collaboratively

and model a positive approach to evidence based change as pertinent to the Middle or Senior School.

> Assist the Head of School in the management of the Middle School.

Wellbeing Leadership

> Lead staff to develop, implement and evaluate engaging and rigorous Christ centred student wellbeing

practices to support and promote each student’s wellbeing and resilience in the Middle School.

> Lead the Middle School staff to build and sustain a strong model of student leadership that actively

engages students in leading students, mentoring, coaching and the development of school pride.

> Undertake effective research to promote and sustain improvement, ensuring the development of age

appropriate quality assurance and review strategies relevant to the wellbeing of students.

> Implement a strong Christian based wellbeing system in the Middle School that actively supports and

develops each student including the involvement of staff and families.

> In consultation with relevant leadership staff, develop, promote and initiate physical wellbeing

activities.

> Ensure a sound knowledge of emerging, evidence-based trends in student wellbeing underpins all

facets of the Middle or Senior School.

> Support teachers with student wellbeing in their classes including in discipline.

> Oversee student management in the MiddleSchool regarding behaviour, attendance, uniform and the

application by students of the school’s Christian values.

> Develop and implement Christ centred student leadership programs in conjunction with the Head of

Middle School.

Educational Leadership

> Promote and model excellence in Christian education.

> Ensure that a sound knowledge of emerging trends in educational theory, learning theory, wellbeing

theory and methodologies underpins educational practice as it pertains to academic care and

wellbeing within the Christian school context.

> Use effective research in order to promote and sustain improvement, ensuring the development of

appropriate quality assurance and review strategies.

> Provide access to high quality professional learning programs in the Middle or Senior School to

improve professional knowledge, practice and engagement in student wellbeing.

> Maintain a practicing role as a classroom teacher.

Staff Leadership and Management

> In working with the Head of Middle and Senior School you will:

> Oversee, guide, monitor and evaluate Middle School staff performance, succession planning,

recruitment, induction, professional learning and training in relation to student wellbeing within a

Christian school context.

> Provide spiritual, pastoral and professional support for the Middle and Senior School staff in student

wellbeing.

> Model a positive and dynamic Christian working environment by developing a team approach,

ensuring open communication, transparent and effective decision-making and collaborative work

practices.

> Assist the Head of Middle and Senior School as required to resolve matters of staff performance and

conduct, in accordance with School policies, procedures, values and Christian principles.

> Demonstrate effective communication within and beyond the School community, including keeping

staff informed about relevant decisions and issues in relation to Middle and Senior School student

wellbeing.

> Assist with the mentoring and coaching of staff in the Middle School with a particular focus for student

wellbeing in a Christian School.

Financial and Resource Management

> Assist the Head of School to manage and oversee the Middle School calendar in consultation with the

Leadership Team.

> Manage and oversee significant events in the Middle School including the allocation of resources and

budget for these events.

> Provide oversight and leadership in conjunction with the Head of School in risk management across

the Middle School.

> Monitor student attendance in the Middle School to ensure accuracy, compliance and wellbeing of

students.

Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by

> Following Work Health and Safety instructions and policies.

> Reporting accidents and hazards.

> Generally caring for own safety and that of others, including visitors, students, parents and volunteers

that may possibly be affected by actions or inaction.

Other duties

> Participate in and support the faith community of the School through prayer and communal worship

activities.

> Model the faith and values of the School in interactions with colleagues, students, parents and the

wider community.

> Attend staff meetings on days when rostered to attend for work.

> Attend the annual whole staff retreat.

> Attend devotions on days and times when at work. All staff are welcome to voluntarily attend staff

devotions outside of their allocated work times.

> Participate in school activities requiring staff participation.

> Other duties as required.

Other
> Be a presence in the Middle or Senior School.

> Maintain a practising role in the teaching program (0.56 FTE teaching load).

> Participate enthusiastically in the School’s wellbeing and co-curricular programs.

> Attend School assemblies, respect and actively support and uphold the School’s Christian values and

ethos.

> As part of the Middle or Senior School leadership team, assist the Head of School as required from

time-to-time.

> Other duties as required from time-to-time by the Principal.

Experience, Knowledge and Attributes
> A personal acceptance of the Lordship of Christ and regular attendance at a Christian church (a church

holding a doctrinal position compatible with the Doctrinal Basis of the School).

> A sharp, research-informed progressive vision of learning and teaching and the capacity to lead

innovations that shape a Christian learning community of excellence.

> A gifted, dynamic teacher with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the development and

educational needs of students and a passion for encouraging them in faith in Jesus Christ.

> Excellent academic qualifications and subject knowledge, post-graduate qualifications or educational

leadership experience highly regarded.

> Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to relate with compassion,

humility, grace, strength and integrity to students, families and staff.

> Excellent leadership and administrative skills, including team building, coaching and mentoring.

> Flexibility to work the hours required to meet critical timelines and other responsibilities of your role.

Employment Conditions

Employment will be subject to the conditions of the current ACT Christian School Teaching Staff

Multi-Enterprise Agreement. The salary and classification for this position will be dependent on the

qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
