Data Asset Management Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Asset Management Coordinator to lead the coordination and governance of a longitudinal linked data asset. This role is responsible for managing complex projects, coordinating data linkage activities, and working collaboratively with stakeholders across government, research organisations, and technical teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant data management.

You will play a pivotal role in bringing together diverse stakeholders—including academic researchers, data custodians, technical specialists, and policy teams—to deliver strategic outcomes while ensuring robust governance, legislative compliance, and effective project management.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident project coordinator who thrives in a complex environment, exercises sound judgement, and knows when to independently resolve issues and when to escalate critical risks to senior leadership.

About you -

You are an organised and confident project professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working within complex governance environments. You can effectively coordinate multiple workstreams, manage competing priorities, and communicate with a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will demonstrate:

Experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and risk management.
Experience working with sensitive, identifiable, or linked data within robust governance frameworks.
Knowledge of data governance, data asset management, privacy legislation, and data sharing arrangements.
Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing executive briefs, reports, governance papers, and correspondence.
Strong relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
Experience working collaboratively with technical teams, researchers, and business stakeholders.
The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and confidently escalate significant risks or issues when appropriate.
A continuous improvement mindset with experience designing or improving business processes and governance mechanisms.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

A valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check for paid employment).
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
