Join our team as a Program Manager Advocacy
Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on influencing outcomes and building strong relationships? As our Program Manager Advocacy, you’ll play a key role in shaping and driving Council’s advocacy agenda - working across the organisation and with government stakeholders to secure investment, progress major projects and position Redland City Council at its best. This is a dynamic, high-impact role where no two days look the same, and your ability to navigate complexity, build partnerships and deliver results will make a real difference to our community.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic leadership – Develop and deliver advocacy strategies aligned to Council’s corporate priorities and major projects
Relationship management – Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal leaders, Councillors and government stakeholders
Influence and engagement – Navigate complex political environments to progress key advocacy priorities
High-quality advice – Provide strategic insights, research and recommendations to support decision-making
Compelling communications – Prepare reports, submissions and briefings that influence funding and policy outcomes
Funding and investment focus – Identify and pursue opportunities across state, federal and other funding channels
Program delivery – Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that require collaboration across Council
Reputation and advocacy – Support activities that position Council strongly in key campaigns, elections and budget cycles
Skills and experience:
Proven experience developing and delivering advocacy, engagement or strategic communication strategies/campaigns
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
Experience in government relations, communications, public relations, community engagement or the likes
Knowledge of public sector environments and ability to operate in complex, multi-stakeholder settings
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
Sound judgement and the ability to navigate sensitive or high-profile issues with professionalism

Eligibility:
- Qualifications or substantial experience in a related discipline e.g. government relations, communications, engagement, political science or public policy desirable, however not essential.
