Company Description
Help shape the future of Brisbane.
What if your next role wasn't simply about delivering projects, but about helping shape an entire city?
AECOM is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Program Advisory Manager to play a pivotal role in our growth strategy for Brisbane and South East Queensland (SEQ).
Our ambition is bold: to position AECOM as the trusted, city-wide partner helping shape Brisbane as an integrated metropolitan system not simply a collection of individual projects.
With Brisbane 2032 providing an unprecedented catalyst for investment, transformation and long-term legacy, this is an opportunity to work at the intersection of city strategy, infrastructure, investment, planning, economics, resilience, sustainability and delivery.
You will help our clients think beyond individual projects and consider the bigger picture: How do we create a more connected, resilient, sustainable and successful Brisbane for generations to come?
This is a role for someone who can see that bigger picture and has the credibility, relationships and commercial drive to turn it into action.
Job Description
The opportunity
As Program Advisory Manager, you will help lead AECOM's Program Management Advisory (PgMA) offering across small to medium-sized programs with significant execution complexity and strategic value, while contributing to larger, city-shaping programs.
You will sit at the intersection of strategy and delivery, working with government and private sector leaders to define challenges, shape investment priorities, develop compelling cases for change and translate strategy into successful programs.
A key part of your role will be helping to build and execute AECOM's "Owning Brisbane" strategy identifying opportunities early, strengthening our relationships across the city and creating a scalable approach to city-wide engagement and growth.
You will work across AECOM's broad capability base, bringing together planning, economics, engineering, advisory and program delivery to create integrated solutions for our clients.
This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence major conversations across Brisbane and SEQ and help shape AECOM's position in one of Australia's most exciting growth markets.
What you'll do
Shape city-scale opportunities
-
Help define and lead integrated, city-scale strategies that consider Brisbane and SEQ as a connected system across infrastructure, transport, land use, resilience, sustainability and social outcomes.
-
Identify emerging client needs, market trends and city-shaping opportunities before they become traditional project opportunities.
-
Use Brisbane 2032 as a catalyst to help clients embed long-term legacy outcomes into investment and delivery strategies.
-
Connect strategy through to implementation, ensuring advisory recommendations can translate into tangible outcomes.
Build trusted client relationships
-
Develop trusted relationships with senior government and private sector leaders across Queensland.
-
Engage with state government, local councils, infrastructure agencies, major developers, industry groups and other influential stakeholders.
-
Position AECOM as a trusted city-wide advisor, rather than simply a project delivery partner.
-
Engage senior stakeholders to understand complex challenges, influence thinking and achieve favourable outcomes.
Drive commercial growth
-
Take an active role in identifying, shaping and converting opportunities across AECOM's business lines.
-
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of advisory and program management opportunities across Brisbane and SEQ.
-
Engage early in strategic pursuits and help shape propositions around client needs.
-
Support major bids and pursuits by providing high-quality PgMA input and ensuring alignment between client requirements and AECOM's capabilities.
-
Identify opportunities to connect clients with AECOM's broader technical and advisory expertise.
Lead Program Management Advisory
-
Lead PgMA assignments for small to medium-sized programs with notable execution complexity and strategic value.
-
Contribute PgMA expertise to larger and more complex programs where required.
-
Provide direction, coaching and guidance to delivery teams involved in Program Management and PgMA initiatives.
-
Collaborate with PgM Regional Business Line Leaders and Regional Program Controls Directors to assess opportunities and determine appropriate advisory approaches.
-
Develop and evolve PgMA tools, methodologies and service offerings to strengthen AECOM's market capability and competitiveness.
Advise and influence
-
Guide clients through the full engagement journey — from initial conversation and problem definition through to analysis, recommendations and solution development.
-
Develop compelling cases for change, using balanced evidence and clear storytelling to influence senior decision-makers.
-
Develop and deliver high-quality client presentations and executive updates.
-
Bring together complex information and translate it into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
-
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and navigate competing priorities to achieve positive outcomes.
Qualifications
What you'll bring
We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking, commercial acumen, advisory capability and genuine market credibility.
-
Significant experience in program advisory, program management, strategy, infrastructure advisory, urban development or a related field.
-
Demonstrated experience working with complex programs and/or city-shaping initiatives.
-
The ability to think at a city, regional or system level, rather than focusing solely on individual projects.
-
Strong understanding of the infrastructure, development and investment environment across Brisbane and SEQ.
-
Established relationships with, or the ability to quickly build credibility with, Queensland Government, local councils, infrastructure agencies, developers and industry stakeholders.
-
A proven ability to influence senior executives and government decision-makers.
-
Strong commercial capability and a demonstrated track record of identifying, shaping and winning new opportunities.
-
Experience bringing together multidisciplinary teams and capabilities to solve complex client problems.
-
Excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills.
-
The ability to move comfortably between strategic conversations with executives and the practical realities of program delivery.
-
Strong understanding of how strategy, investment and delivery need to connect to create meaningful outcomes.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who is curious, connected, commercially minded and motivated by impact.
You won't simply wait for opportunities to arrive. You'll identify where the market is heading, build the relationships that matter and help AECOM get there first.
