Whale Tales is an award-winning Sydney marine tourism and events company delivering premium whale watching experiences during the annual humpback whale migration and harbour charters throughout the summer season.
We are seeking an experienced Content Creator (Marketing) to lead the research, planning, creation, scheduling, publication and optimisation of digital marketing content across multiple online platforms. This position plays an important role in increasing brand awareness, growing digital audiences, supporting commercial product development and driving customer bookings.
Working closely with management and vessel operations, the successful candidate will combine market research, digital marketing strategy, commercial storytelling and high-quality multimedia production to strengthen the company’s market position while documenting authentic tourism experiences in dynamic offshore environments.
Responsibilities
· Research consumer demand, market characteristics, tourism trends and competitor activity
to identify opportunities for new tourism products, seasonal experiences and premium
charter offerings.
· Design and produce digital marketing assets, including social media graphics, campaign creatives, presentations, email marketing materials and promotional collateral that maintain brand consistency across digital platforms.
· Develop, implement and continuously optimize digital marketing strategies that increase
brand awareness, social media expansion, customer engagement, qualified enquiries and
online bookings.
· Advise management on product mix, promotional strategies and seasonal marketing
campaigns using market research, customer insights and campaign analytics.
· Develop, launch and evaluate new tourism concepts, seasonal itineraries and premium charter experiences through pilot campaigns, customer feedback and measurable commercial outcomes.
· Produce, schedule, publish and manage high-quality photography, videography and
written marketing content across the company’s website, social media platforms and
digital marketing channels.
· Maintain digital content calendars and ensure marketing campaigns are delivered consistently across multiple platforms.
· Monitor audience growth, engagement, conversion metrics and campaign performance
using digital analytics platforms, preparing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
· Build and maintain an organised digital asset library to support ongoing marketing campaigns, promotional activities and brand consistency.
· Capture authentic visual marketing content onboard vessels operating in offshore marine environments while maintaining safe operational practices.
· Develop engaging educational marketing content that accurately communicates humpback whale behaviour and marine wildlife encounters to strengthen brand authority, enhance visitor experience and support commercial objectives.
· Collaborate with vessel crews, guides and management to ensure marketing content accurately reflects customer experiences, operational standards and seasonal campaigns.
· Maintain brand consistency across all digital marketing materials, ensuring visual identity, messaging and customer experience remain aligned.
Skills and Attributes:
· Minimum 1 years of experience
· A Bachelor degree (Australian or recognised equivalent) in Digital Business, Marketing or a closely related business discipline.
· Demonstrated experience developing and implementing digital marketing strategies that support business growth, customer acquisition and brand development.
· Strong knowledge of market research methodologies, consumer behaviour analysis and digital campaign optimisations.
· Proven ability to translate market trends, analyse customer demand and translate insights into commercially successful marketing campaign and tourism products.
· Demonstrated experience in creating, scheduling, publishing and managing digital marketing content across multiple social media platforms and online channels.
· A professional portfolio showcasing high-quality commercial marketing work, including digital campaigns, photography, videography, copywriting, graphic design and multimedia content created to increase audience engagement, strengthen brand awareness or support commercial outcomes.
· Strong professional references that demonstrate consistent delivery of high-quality work, reliability, collaboration and the ability to contribute to commercial marketing objectives.
· Demonstrated proficiency using professional creative software such as Canva, CapPro or Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro and Illustrator) or equivalent platforms to produce high-quality digital marketing assets.
· Working knowledge of humpback whale behaviour, marine wildlife interpretation and responsible wildlife tourism sufficient to produce accurate educational marketing content that enhances customer understanding and engagement.
· Proven ability to work safely in physically demanding offshore marine environments, including operating professional camera equipment onboard vessels in changing weather and sea conditions.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with professional-level English proficiency.
· Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent digital marketing campaigns while meeting deadlines.
· A collaborative, proactive and commercially focused approach with the ability to work effectively across marketing, operations and customer experience teams.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $100,537.57 per year
