About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson to provide mechanical maintenance and operational support across our Barossa winery sites. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of plant, machinery, and equipment that support our winery operations.
The role is responsible for carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activities, investigating equipment failures, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to the commissioning of new equipment and processes.
This is a hands-on position that requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate and rectify plant failures and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities.
Perform planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance efficiently and effectively.
Carry out routine servicing, fault finding, monitoring, and testing of mechanical equipment.
Safely isolate plant and equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Participate in engineering improvement projects and reliability initiatives.
Support the commissioning and review of new and existing equipment and processes.
Identify opportunities for plant and equipment improvements.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Promote a positive safety culture and ensure apprentices work safely.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company requirements.
Assist in developing and reviewing maintenance procedures and work instructions.
Maintain accurate maintenance records within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Complete reporting requirements and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance function.
Essential Requirements
Trade qualification in Fitting and Machining or Boilermaking/Welding.
Minimum 5 years' experience (including apprenticeship) within an industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing mechanical maintenance schedules.
Experience contributing to the design, installation, or implementation of new plant and equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and CMMS systems.
Proven welding capability including:
TIG Welding (stainless steel)
MIG Welding
Arc Welding
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Experience working within TPM and/or 5S environments.
Experience in the wine, food, or beverage manufacturing industries.
Previous experience maintaining winery equipment.
PLC knowledge and troubleshooting capability.
Experience preparing maintenance reports and maintaining accurate records.
High Risk Work Licences, including:
Forklift Licence
Confined Space Certification
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Certification
First Aid Certificate.
Working at Heights Certification.
Boiler Operator's Ticket.
