About the Role
CFA is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development, procurement and delivery of new and existing fire-fighting vehicle programs.
This high-impact role will use your project management, technical and commercial expertise to deliver safe, reliable and fit-for-purpose fire-fighting appliances for CFA volunteers and communities across Victoria.
You will manage programs from feasibility and design through procurement, delivery and ongoing support, working with CFA leaders, engineers, suppliers, industry and regulators to deliver projects on time, within budget and to required standards.
What you'll do:
- Lead vehicle build programs, including design, scope, budgets, procurement and delivery.
- Develop technical and commercial specifications, manage tenders and provide recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with CFA stakeholders, suppliers, industry and regulators.
- Provide expert advice on vehicle design, safety, reliability and maintainability.
- Monitor budgets, risks, milestones and performance, providing clear reports to senior leaders.
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary project teams and build project management capability.
- Identify opportunities to improve vehicle design, functionality and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure programs align with CFA priorities, governance and strategic objectives.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and be eligible for membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia and/or significant allied experience in the medium to heavy vehicle manufacturing/maintenance industry.
- Extensive ars proven experience in an Engineering environment allied to vehicle design and development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to successfully manage and influence key stakeholder relationships and engagements.
- Demonstrated high level experience in project management and contract administration with the ability to plan, develop, prioritise, initiate and control programs and budgets.
- Demonstrated high level experience in the preparation of standard commercial contracts and prescriptive technical specifications for vehicles, and associated plant and equipment.
- Ability to work independently, and in a team environment with high level mentoring and problem solving skills.
