About the role

We have an opportunity for a Systems Administrator to be part of our Hosting Platform team within our Technology Communication Services Command. The Systems Administrator supports service delivery to the organisation in the management of IT computer systems.

Key Responsibilities

Administer, monitor and optimise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8+) environments

Plan, deploy and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure

Automate system configuration and patching using Ansible and Red Hat Satellite

Support application teams with system integration, scripting and troubleshooting

Maintain system security through patching, hardening and compliance adherence

Monitor system health using tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds

Participate in an on-call support rotation

Required Skills & Experience Professional

Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across infrastructure, security, and application development teams

Technical

- 3+ years Linux administration experience (preferably RHEL) - Strong knowledge of CIS Framework, SELinux, LVM, LDAP, SSSD

Proven troubleshooting ability across RHEL systems, including diagnosing complex issues in virtualised environments

Automation & Scripting

Hands-on experience with Ansible

Proficiency in Bash and/or Python

Infrastructure

Understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, firewalls, TLS/SSL)

Observability

Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace

Desirable Skills and Certifications

Kubernetes or OpenShift experience

Linux certification (RHCSA/RHCE)
