Better Health Network is seeking an experienced GP Service Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of our GP services across South Melbourne and St Kilda. Working closely with GPs, nurses, administration teams and service leaders, you'll play a key role in ensuring accessible, high-quality healthcare reaches the people who need it most.

Both practices provide fully bulk-billed primary healthcare and play an important role in supporting people who face barriers to accessing mainstream health services.

The South Melbourne GP Service provides comprehensive general practice and nursing care, including preventive health, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions, care coordination, and referrals to specialist and allied health services. Access Health offers flexible, walk-in healthcare for people experiencing complex health and social challenges, including homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues, and mental health concerns. Through strong partnerships with health, housing and community support services, both practices deliver person-centred care that improves access, strengthens health outcomes and supports the wellbeing of vulnerable members of the community.

About you

You bring hands-on experience from a general practice environment, such as a Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, Senior Medical Receptionist, or similar primary care coordination role. You have a strong understanding of how a busy GP clinic operates and are confident coordinating schedules, supporting clinicians, managing patient flow, overseeing administrative processes, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Highly organised and proactive, you can juggle competing priorities, solve problems collaboratively, and build positive relationships with GPs, nurses, reception teams and external stakeholders. Your knowledge of Medicare billing, GP practice software such as Best Practice and/or Medical Director, and general practice operations allows you to contribute from day one.

Most importantly, you are someone who values compassion, respect and teamwork. You are committed to delivering services that are accessible, inclusive and person-centred, and you take pride in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare to people who need it most.

You will bring:

Relevant qualification in health administration, business, healthcare, or a related field, or equivalent experience in general practice, primary care, or community health.
Experience coordinating clinic operations, workforce administration, and service delivery in a healthcare setting.
Experience supporting GP recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, rostering, and workforce coordination.
Knowledge of Medicare billing, claiming, GP payments, and primary care funding programs.
Experience monitoring performance and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, access, and patient outcomes.
Understanding of quality, accreditation, compliance, privacy, and information governance requirements.
Proficiency in practice management systems such as Best Practice, Medical Director, PRODA, Medicare Online, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to identify, address, and escalate operational issues and risks.
A commitment to person-centred, culturally safe, and trauma-informed care, and to improving health equity for vulnerable communities.
