About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Part Time position to cover Long Service Leave from 5th October 2026 to 10 January 2027, at 0.4EFT/32hours per fortnight within the Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program (VPPCP) - Division of Medicine and Division of Operations.
You will be responsible for providing specialist medical input into the care of children with palliative care needs, helping to ensure high-quality, family-centred care across Victoria. You also play a key role in building the capability of paediatric and palliative care services to deliver best practice care.
This role involves a presence at both RCH and Monash Children’s Hospital, with additional travel required for home, hospice, and other hospital visits across Victoria. Your clinical work is primarily consultation‑liaison, focusing on supporting and guiding care rather than delivering direct clinical management.
Classification for this position will range from HN16 to HN59 (FTE base salary, plus superannuation).

Strengthen clinical decision-making and support for children and families through effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration

Build capability across the health system by educating and supporting clinicians to deliver best practice paediatric palliative care

Support the delivery of consistent, best practice palliative care through consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration
Your skills and experience
-
Clinical experience working at consultant level in paediatric or adult palliative medicine
-
A higher qualification in Paediatric Palliative Medicine (FAChPM)

Ability to build and maintain working relationships with a range of stakeholders

Eligible for or has current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA

About the Department
The Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program is an alliance between the Royal Children's Hospital, Monash Health and Very Special Kids. The team is made up of specialist doctors, nurses, social worker and an occupational therapist. The Program aims to ensure children and adolescents with life-limiting conditions and their families receive the best possible palliative care by providing information, advice and support to families and the health professionals caring for them.
