About the role

The Coordinator Waste and Cleansing position is a senior leadership role and is responsible for providing strategic direction and operational oversight of Council’s Waste and Cleansing services, including all waste collection activities such as kerbside collections, hard waste, dumped rubbish, graffiti removal, street and footpath sweeping, litter collection and the cleaning of public amenities, whilst also managing a portfolio of large‑scale service and contractor arrangements. The role ensures the delivery of high‑performing, compliant and customer‑focused services aligned with organisational priorities, driving business plan, financial, contract and service outcomes through strong governance, planning and performance management. It also leads and develops a high‑performing workforce, oversees assets and resources to deliver efficient and sustainable services, and works collaboratively with stakeholders to continuously improve service quality and community outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:

leading and managing large‑scale waste and cleansing operations, including kerbside collections, hard waste, dumped rubbish, graffiti removal, street and footpath sweeping, litter collection and public amenity cleaning, within a complex service delivery environment. You will bring strong experience in developing and delivering business plans, budgets and service strategies, alongside the ability to manage major contracts and contractors to achieve high‑quality, compliant and value‑for‑money outcomes. With a proven track record in building high‑performing teams, you will drive a culture of accountability, safety, innovation and continuous improvement, while applying sound governance, risk and legislative compliance practices. Your highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills will enable you to build effective relationships and deliver responsive, customer‑focused services that meet community expectations and organisational priorities
