Primary objective
Ensure delivery of high quality, culturally appropriate and effective social work outpatient and remote services whilst providing clinical
leadership and supervision to Allied Health Professionals within NT Health. This position will require the applicant to work on call, within
an extended hours service model, which may include weekends and after hours.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically, and culturally appropriate Social Work services under minimal supervision within a multidisciplinary and

cross-sector framework across urban and remote settings.
2. Provide specialist Social Work support to Community Allied Health teams and remote primary health clinics, including case

consultation, joint care planning, and outreach service delivery.
3. Manage a complex caseload including chronic disease, disability, palliative care, and clients with complex psychosocial needs and

social determinants impacting health outcomes.
4. Undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and care planning, addressing social barriers to effective

health care.
5. Provide high-risk domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) assessment, safety planning, and intervention in accordance with best

practice standards.
6. Work with individuals and families experiencing complex family and kinship dynamics, ensuring culturally safe, responsive, and

trauma-informed approaches to care.
7. Coordinate care across health and community services, including collaboration with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations

and relevant agencies to support continuity of care.
8. Provide clinical/professional supervision, mentoring, and support to staff, and contribute to capability development within the

multidisciplinary team.
9. Prioritise and manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment, ensuring effective communication,

documentation, and feedback to senior staff on clinical and service issues.
10. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Social Work that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
2. Extensive post graduate experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Social Work services to patients and families/carers.
3. Extensive Post graduate experience in contemporary DFSV intervention, risk assessment and safety planning in regional and remote

context.
4. Proven ability to independently plan and prioritise a high-volume complex workload within an ever changing work environment.
5. Extensive experience in clinical supervision of students and staff and a commitment to professional development.
6. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with clients and

families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
7. Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills, including well developed negotiation and conflict management skills, with

significant experience working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
8. Proven ability to initiate, implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
9. Hold current NT drivers’ licence or have the ability to obtain and ability and willingness to travel by car, 4WD vehicle and/or light

aircraft to visit and work in rural and remote communities for periods of up to 5-days at a time.
10. Willingness to work as part of an after-hours on call roster including weekends and public holidays

Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical education, leadership / management or speciality practice area.
