Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde
Shape the systems that power exceptional education, connect technical insight with strategic outcomes to enhance the experience of staff and students.
Macquarie University is seeking an Education Systems Analyst to join the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education (PVCE) portfolio, where you will help evaluate, assess and align education technology platforms with the University's strategic objectives.
As national expectations around teaching quality continue to grow, the systems that underpin the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of teaching must be well-governed, fit for purpose and actively managed. In this role, you will act as a vital bridge between technical teams and educational stakeholders, helping to enable streamlined service experiences and reliable data that supports better decision-making.
This is an opportunity to apply your business analysis expertise to a genuinely purposeful mission: improving how education is delivered to Macquarie's undergraduate and graduate students and helping to realise the transformation outlined in the MQ Advantage Education Strategy.
About the Role
The Education Systems Analyst partners with the PVCE, faculty and business teams to identify, clarify and map improved process and system relationships, translating business requirements into system design and practical solutions that improve services, efficiency and decision-making. Key responsibilities include:
Leading activities to elicit, analyse and validate opportunities and problems across systems and workflows, using workshops, interviews, observation, testing and data review.
Working with stakeholders across faculties and teams to map the current and future state of key functions, and to identify gaps, risks and dependencies that may affect business outcomes.
Translating business needs into clear, prioritised functional requirements, incorporating governance oversight and compliance alignment, including privacy, policy and cyber security factors.
Coordinating solution delivery through design clarification, option assessment, testing, release readiness and change/training activities.
Analysing system data, configurations and workflows to identify issues, trends and opportunities for optimisation or standardisation across education systems.
Providing subject-matter input into system enhancements, integrations and upgrades, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, governance and strategic priorities.
Producing documentation that defines problems, presents options and communicates benefits and success measures to inform business cases and investment prioritisation.

Knowledge of education systems, enterprise platforms or complex business systems, including process mapping, data interpretation, business intelligence and system optimisation.
Proficiency with common tools (e.g. Jira/Confluence, Miro, Visio, Excel/Power BI) and the ability to translate data and system behaviour into clear insights and recommendations.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and validate data, identify trends or issues, and use insights to inform prioritisation and solution design.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops, manage competing priorities and convey complex information to stakeholders with varying levels of technical capability.
