Full Job Description

Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Network and Telecommunications Administrator to play a key role in the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of our enterprise network and telecommunications environment.

This hands-on position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and security of critical network infrastructure, telecommunications services and connectivity across the organisation.

About the role:

Design, implement, administer and support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, firewall, telecommunications and mobile service environments.
Develop and implement network strategies that meet current and future business requirements.
Manage and support routers, switches, firewalls, WAN services and wireless infrastructure.
Monitor network performance, capacity and availability, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and telecommunications issues to minimise service disruption.
Work collaboratively with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable technology services.
Develop, maintain and improve technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
Participate in infrastructure projects, technology upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.

We are seeking:

Relevant Information Technology qualifications, industry certifications, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Proven experience designing, implementing and supporting resilient enterprise network environments.
Experience with HPE Aruba switching and wireless networking solutions.
Experience working with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
Experience with network monitoring, performance analysis and troubleshooting tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
Well-developed communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

This position is based in Tweed Heads, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Selection Criteria:

Why are you interested in working at Tweed Shire Council, and what excites you most about this particular opportunity?
Degree in Information Technology, Computing Science or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience working as a Network Administrator or similar role.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless networking, WAN services and network security technologies.
Demonstrated experience administering enterprise networking and security technologies, including HPE Aruba switching and wireless solutions and Fortinet security platforms.
Demonstrated ability to monitor, analyse and optimise network performance, identify issues and implement effective solutions to maintain service availability.
Demonstrated ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex network and telecommunications issues in a large enterprise environment.
Demonstrated high-level communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Current drivers licence.
