Advanced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner Contractor Position with Pathway to Full-Time Employment Location: Sydney, NSW — Hybrid and flexible work arrangements available Organisation: Kalliopi Support Services Engagement: Subcontractor initially, with an opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time position for the right candidate About Kalliopi Support Services Kalliopi Support Services is a growing NDIS provider committed to delivering person-centred, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming supports. We work collaboratively with participants, families, support coordinators, allied health professionals and service providers to improve quality of life, reduce restrictive practices and build sustainable support environments. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Advanced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will begin as a contractor, with a genuine pathway to full-time employment and a future clinical leadership role. About the Role The Advanced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner will manage a varied caseload of NDIS participants with complex behavioural, developmental, psychosocial and environmental support needs. You will be responsible for completing comprehensive behavioural assessments, developing evidence-based behaviour support plans and supporting the implementation of positive behaviour support strategies across home, community, education and supported accommodation settings. The role will also involve providing clinical guidance to practitioners, support workers, families and stakeholders while promoting ethical, least-restrictive and participant-led practice. Key Responsibilities - Conduct functional behaviour assessments and comprehensive behavioural assessments. - Develop interim and comprehensive behaviour support plans. - Identify behavioural functions, environmental factors, unmet needs, communication barriers and quality-of-life considerations. - Develop proactive, preventative and skill-building strategies. - Complete risk assessments, data reviews, behavioural analyses and progress reports. - Support participants, families and service providers to implement behaviour support strategies consistently. - Provide training, coaching and clinical guidance to support workers and stakeholder teams. - Review incident reports, ABC data, restrictive practice information and other relevant clinical records. - Monitor the effectiveness of behaviour support interventions and update plans when required. - Work collaboratively with support coordinators, allied health practitioners, accommodation providers, schools, guardians and other stakeholders. - Participate in case conferences, care-team meetings and clinical reviews. - Ensure behaviour support plans and associated documentation are completed within required timeframes. - Upload, maintain and manage behaviour support plans through the relevant NDIS Commission practitioner systems. - Support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices wherever possible. - Ensure all regulated restrictive practices are clearly documented, monitored and reviewed in accordance with applicable requirements. - Maintain accurate, professional and timely case notes, reports and clinical records. - Provide mentoring, consultation and practice guidance to developing behaviour support practitioners. - Contribute to the development of internal clinical systems, templates, policies and quality-improvement processes. - Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and compliance with Kalliopi Support Services policies. Essential Criteria The successful candidate must: - Be considered suitable by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to deliver behaviour support at an Advanced Practitioner level, or be able to demonstrate equivalent capability and experience. - Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, behaviour analysis, education, developmental science, counselling or another relevant discipline. - Have demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours of concern. - Have experience completing functional behaviour assessments and comprehensive behaviour support plans. - Demonstrate a strong understanding of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and person-centred care. - Understand restrictive practice requirements and the importance of reduction and elimination strategies. - Have strong clinical reasoning, behavioural analysis and report-writing skills. - Be confident communicating with participants, families, guardians, service providers and multidisciplinary teams. - Be capable of managing competing priorities and completing documentation within required timeframes. - Have experience using the NDIS Commission behaviour support practitioner portal or be confident learning relevant systems. - Hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check. - Hold a current Working with Children Check where required. - Hold a current Australian driver licence and have access to a reliable vehicle. - Hold current professional indemnity and public liability insurance while engaged as a contractor. - Have the legal right to work in Australia. Desirable Criteria - Experience mentoring or supervising behaviour support practitioners. - Experience working with participants who have autism, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, psychosocial disability or complex trauma. - Experience working within supported independent living, individualised living options, residential or community-based environments. - Experience supporting participants subject to guardianship or other formal decision-making arrangements. - Experience delivering stakeholder training and implementation coaching. - Registration with a relevant professional body, where applicable. - Experience contributing to clinical governance, audits or quality-improvement processes. - Interest in progressing into a clinical leadership or team-leader position.
Contractor Arrangement The successful candidate will initially be engaged as an independent contractor and will be expected to:
- Manage an agreed caseload.
- Maintain their own professional registrations, checks and insurances.
- Complete required reports, assessments and plans within agreed timeframes. - Participate in clinical meetings and collaborative case discussions.
- Maintain regular communication regarding participant progress, risks and service-delivery requirements.
- Comply with Kalliopi Support Services’ clinical governance, privacy, incident-management and documentation requirements. Referral opportunities and administrative support will be provided by Kalliopi Support Services.
Pathway to Full-Time Employment For the right candidate, this contractor position is intended to progress into a permanent full-time role as the organisation and behaviour support team continue to grow. Progression will be considered based on:
