STAR Community Services is an award-winning not-for-profit supporting elderly and people with disabilities since 1996. We provide affordable, reliable aged care and disability services—including Support at Home, NDIS, transport, social activities, and companionship—to help clients live independently and stay connected. With help from dedicated staff and local volunteers, we serve Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba. STAR is committed to building inclusive communities and combating social isolation through regular programs and events.
About the Role
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and efficient coordination of financial administration, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and debtor management functions across the organisation. The role provides high-quality financial support to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements, and legislative obligations.
Key responsibilities (not limited to)
Payroll Administration
- Process high volume payroll and respond to payroll queries, payroll document requests.
- Process monthly superannuation payments to Super Funds.
Client Service and Stakeholder Support
- Willing to learn Support At Home (SaH) and NDIS Claiming processes.
- Provide customer service to the community by effectively managing complex service user enquiries and service requests.
- Perform tasks of a sensitive nature including the provision of more than routine information, the receiving and accounting for moneys and assistance to clients.
Data Management and Systems Administration
- Provide accurate data entry to register service user information.
Financial Operations
- All aspects of accounts payable and receivable
- Monitor bank accounts
- Monthly high volume invoicing
- All aspects of debt collection, including discussions regarding payment plans and financial hardship.
- Manage direct debit documentation. Follow up on rejected payments with clients.
Team Coordination and Administration
- Oversee rostering of days plus allocation of tasks to accounts staff to meet monthly finance cycle timeframes.
- Training of staff in new processes.

What will you bring to the role?
- Experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and debtor management
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems, financial processes and data accuracy
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A customer-focused approach with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail
- Experience in community services, aged care, NDIS or not-for-profit sectors (desirable)
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
