Why we are Recruiting
The St David’s Neighbourhood Centre Thrift Shop is an essential activity of the organisation and provides a place for connection, social benefit, and value for our community. Funds raised through the Thrift Shop support the work of the centre. A coordinator to lead and manage the shop and team of volunteers is vital to our success, the position has recently become vacant, and we are looking for the right person to join our team of staff and volunteers.
What You Will Do
In this role you will lead the safe and effective operation of the Thrift Shop meeting identified sales targets and continuing its role as a point of connection. You will maintain a high level of volunteer engagement including the supported inclusion of volunteers from diverse backgrounds. To promote the shop and share information about the programs and support available through the centre, you will run events and hold special sales that encourage our community to connect with and support the shop.
Through the role, you will also create a welcoming and inclusive environment for our volunteers, working with them as they contribute to the organisation’s mission. Volunteer appreciation activities are also integral to the role as well as working with the other programs and activities of the centre.

Key selection criteria:
· Relevant qualification in retail or business management and/or previous experience in a similar setting
· Demonstrated experience coordinating, supporting, and leading volunteers in a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative manner, with the ability to foster a positive team culture.
· Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (both written and Oral), with the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, customers, community members, staff, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
· Strong organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to coordinate volunteer rosters, maintain accurate records, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to promote a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment, including an understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities and professional boundaries.
· Proven Experience using computer applications and social media platforms, including Microsoft Office, email, Canva, Facebook, and online sales or marketing tools.
· Demonstrated ability to contribute to community engagement activities, fundraising initiatives, events, and the promotion of organisational programs and services, with a willingness to work at events after hours and on weekends as negotiated.
· Commitment to the values, mission, and objectives of St David's Neighbourhood Centre, including fostering community connection, inclusion, participation, and wellbeing.
· Current valid Driver’s Licence, National Police Check and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)

The Thrift Shop Coordinator ensures the effective operation of a key activity of the centre and the Thrift Shop contributes to the financial viability of the organisation. The role works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to engage programs and activities with the Thrift Shop.
