About the role
The Shopping Editor is a commercial editorial role responsible for executing the shopping content strategy across their assigned vertical to deliver affiliate revenue growth, audience engagement and editorial excellence.
Reporting to the Head of Affiliate, the Shopping Editor translates the broader commerce strategy into day-to-day editorial priorities, content planning and commercial execution across their brands. Working closely with Editorial, Audience and Affiliate teams, they are responsible for creating and optimising high-performing shopping content that delivers CPA, CPC, and Flat Fee revenue while maintaining editorial quality and brand authority.
The Shopping Editor uses audience, performance and commercial data to inform editorial decisions, identify growth opportunities and continually improve content performance across Search, Google Discover, social, newsletters and emerging AI-driven discovery channels. They are responsible for testing new content formats, supporting seasonal campaigns and ensuring shopping content meets best practice for SEO, affiliate performance and user experience.
Duties
- Plan, create and optimise shopping content to deliver CPA, CPC and Flat Fee revenue targets across your assigned vertical.
- Execute the shopping content strategy in collaboration with Editorial, Audience and Affiliate teams.
- Create and edit high-quality shopping content that balances editorial excellence with commercial performance.
- Deliver seasonal campaigns and commercial partnerships to a high editorial standard.
- Optimise shopping content for SEO, affiliate performance, Google Discover and emerging AI-driven search experiences.
- Use audience and performance data to identify growth opportunities and continually improve content performance.
- Identify opportunities to leverage newsletters, social commerce, storefronts and new commerce products to drive affiliate revenue.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of shopping content workflows and best practice.
Skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience creating digital editorial content.
- Experience working within content management systems, affiliate platforms and analytics tools.
- Preferred experience with WordPress, Conductor and Power BI.
- Strong understanding of affiliate commerce, SEO and digital content optimisation.
- Demonstrated ability to create high-performing shopping content that balances editorial quality with commercial outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of affiliate revenue models, audience behaviour and content performance metrics.
- Experience interpreting performance data and using insights to inform editorial decisions.
- Excellent planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong written editing skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across Editorial, Audience, Commercial and Affiliate teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
