Established in 1998, Penrith Anglican College seeks to nurture and develop empowered learners

with strength of character who know and follow Christ and serve others. Throughout its history, the

College has established itself as a place of academic rigour and care, producing graduates who

reflect the College's values of compassion, integrity, courage, humility and perseverance. We are

experiencing continued, strong enrolment growth across the College as we increase the number of

streams in Primary and Secondary. A new purpose-built Visual Arts, Science and Technology

building is currently under construction, opening in Term 1 2027.

Reporting To Director of Studies

Key Working Secondary Leadership Group, Teaching and
Relationships Support Staff in Technologies, VET Co-ordinator, Head of Gifted and
Talented Secondary, Head of Learning Support, Head of Administration

and Finance.

Teaching Load The teaching load and any allocations will be determined annually by the
Principal and will reflect the learning, wellbeing, cultural, community and
administrative responsibilities of the role.

Role Summary

The Head of Technologies is a key leadership role at the College, responsible for the strategic

oversight and development of Technological and Applied Studies within the Secondary School. This

includes leading the implementation of curriculum and fostering innovative, contemporary teaching

and learning practices across technology disciplines.

As both a leader and classroom teacher, the Head of Technologies nurtures students’ ability to learn,

guiding them in design thinking and problem-solving while supporting their academic and pastoral

development. Central to the role is promoting creativity, critical thinking and engagement through

hands-on experiences with traditional and emerging technologies.

The role also includes leading and mentoring teaching and support staff, supporting professional

growth and facilitating learning aligned with curriculum reform and emerging trends. In addition, the

Head of Technologies oversees the effective management of specialist classrooms and workshops,

ensuring safe, compliant and future-focused learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

Faculty and Secondary Academic Leadership

Lead the Faculty to create a collaborative and industrious work environment, and a strategic

direction aligned with the College Mission and Values.

Foster and model a culture of continuous improvement in the faculty, supporting the ongoing

professional growth and development of staff.

Contribute meaningfully to the Secondary Academic Leadership group to improve student

academic experiences, ensure compliance requirements and share best practice.

Contribute to a culture of leadership that engenders humility, integrity, transparency, high

standards, responsibility, trust, accountability, collegiality, respect and efficiency.

Critically engage in professional learning to update knowledge and practice.

Support new graduates and teachers new to the College.

Network with faculties from other schools.

Model exemplary presentation and communication skills with staff, students and families.

Teaching and Learning

Develop, implement, evaluate and document teaching and learning programs that incorporate

differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across a range of

abilities, including providing and documenting relevant adjustments according to student

individual learning plans.

Use student data and feedback to inform improvements in teaching and learning programs.

Adhere to all curriculum expectations and deadlines as set out by NESA and the College.

Align teaching practices and curriculum with the Christian faith.

Incorporate the language and habits associated with the College Learning Culture within regular

classroom practice, establishing high expectations and empowering students to develop as

reflective, relational, resilient, and resourceful learners.

Create and maintain a positive and engaging learning space for the students.

Provide regular, timely and transformative feedback to students and their families regarding

progress, achievements, behaviour, and application using accurate and reliable records.

Establish and maintain a child safe and positive classroom culture that fosters clear student

behavioural learning and discipline expectations through effective classroom management and

discipline practices to ensure students are safe and supported as they learn.

Respond appropriately to faculty-based issues regarding classroom discipline and academic

engagement, liaising with Heads of House as appropriate.

Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT, including

CANVAS.

Ensure meaningful and effective assessment practices to inform programming, teaching and

reporting.

Administration and Management

Carry out administrative duties, such as setting up assessment schedules, entering marks in

Edumate and CANVAS, ensuring staff complete and appropriately store registers, maintaining

accurate minutes of faculty meetings, allocating and monitoring the marking and setting of

assessments and accompanying feedback, entering of data into Schools Online as appropriate

to the subject area, setting up and editing reports.

Gather evidence as part of ongoing processes of high quality differentiation and

documentation.

Contribute to:

The placement of students in suitable classes within the faculty, as applicable

The development of student literacy and numeracy skills

The allocation of teaching staff to relevant courses

The recruitment of new staff as required

Supporting staff through Proficient and Experienced Teacher accreditation

Manage the acquisition and effective utilisation and maintenance of resources within the faculty

budget.

Plan and organise excursions/incursions.

Implement relevant programs, policy, and legislative requirements, including the College’s

Code of Conduct, to ensure student wellbeing and safety.

Skills and Attributes

Have a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and regularly attend a Christian church.

Ability to build positive relationships that nurture and empower students with a diverse range of

needs to achieve their full potential.

Extensive skills in the use of ICT, particularly Microsoft programs, CANVAS and Edumate (or

a willingness to be trained in these platforms).

Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for education.

Demonstrated ability to be reliable and responsive to needs within a dynamic school

environment.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a range of

people, including staff, students, parents, and community members.

Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively as a productive and creative member of a team.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and always represent the best interests of the College.

Qualifications/Accreditation

Relevant qualifications (from an approved and recognised tertiary institution) in Education and

Technologies such as:

o A Bachelor of Education (Secondary – Technology and Applied Studies)

o A Master of Teaching with relevant undergraduate degree.

Be accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

A valid WWCC number
