We are looking for a kitchen professional with an amazing attitude to join our team & deliver high quality products in a fast paced environment confidently & with flair! Ember Byron Bay is a premium fine dining steakhouse in the heart of Byron Bay. As a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike, we pride ourselves on the high quality food and beverages we offer whilst delivering exceptional customer service.

Prepares, seasons and cooks food in a dining or catering establishment.

· Assists in the planning of menus and determining food quantities and costs

· Prepares and cooks food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience

· Monitors food quality and presentation

· Manages and trains Cooks and Kitchenhands in food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety

· Orders and maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring it meets daily production needs

· Collaborates with management to develop new dishes and improve existing recipes

· Coordinates with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient food service

· Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen

· 2 years minimum experience

· Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth preparation and service.

· Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring seamless operations

· Preparing and cooking meals to a high standard

· Supervising dish quality throughout preparation and presentation

· Collaborate with the team to prepare, following recipes correctly and present high-quality dishes using fresh, local ingredients.

· Consulting with servers about the dishes on menu to educate them

· Demonstrating methods and providing guidance on cooking techniques

· Manage inventory, maintain stock levels, and ensure timely ordering of supplies

· Educating on and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards throughout the kitchen.

· Working to a set budget for costing of all dishes

· Managing the staff budget daily to achieve the desired outcome for managers

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

· Complying with WHS systems & legislation

· Comply with Ember’s policies and procedures

· Explaining & enforcing hygiene regulations

· Ensure role is carried out in line with safe work practices

· Results driven

· Constantly seeking to improve venue offerings

· Continually improving

· Strong involvement in team building

· Positive happy person to work alongside

· Ability to build rapport with all customers especially locals

· Provide a harassment, bullying and discrimination-free workplace.

Qualifications

Require Certificate 3 in hospitality

Basic food handling certificate
