ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at PEN CATERING based at Neutral Bay. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading our family-owned business and creating exceptional catering experiences for our customers. This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth and development.

Your role will be to lead the team in delivering food of an exceptional quality and management of all food, labour and cost of goods.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high-quality food preparation and presentation.
Lead and manage a team of talented chefs and kitchen staff, providing guidance, training and support.
Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategic plans for the business.
Monitor inventory and order supplies to maintain an efficient and well-stocked kitchen.
Foster a positive and productive work environment in the kitchen.
Requires you to direct kitchen operations and manage catering staff.
Managing inventory, ensuring proper stock levels, and coordinating with suppliers for timely deliveries.
Manage all aspects of the kitchen including planning menus, production schedules, food costing analysis, budgeting, and staffing levels.
Develop and plan menus, maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
Control of stock and food quality, and inventory control and wastage control.
Ensure compliance of food hygiene, sanitation, equipment, and statutory requirements.

Significant experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a high-quality catering environment.
Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisine styles.
Strong leadership and management abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Creativity and a passion for developing innovative menu items.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
