About the Role
You will join our Cabinet Team in the Office of General Counsel group. As the Associate Director, Cabinet, you will lead the delivery of Cabinet and Committee operations, strategic projects and policy work that support high-quality decision-making at the centre of NSW Government.
You will oversee a diverse portfolio of work, balancing operational leadership, strategic Cabinet advice, stakeholder engagement and people management in a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
Working closely with senior executives, Ministerial Offices, agencies and central government stakeholders, you will provide expert advice on Cabinet practice, governance and machinery of government matters. You will play a key role in identifying emerging issues, managing risks, influencing outcomes and ensuring Cabinet processes support effective and informed decision-making across government.

About the Cabinet Team
The Cabinet Team, within The Cabinet Office (TCO), are the custodians of Cabinet conventions, practices and processes. Cabinet and Cabinet Committees are the fundamental decision-making bodies for the NSW Government to make policy decisions that achieve the government’s objectives and benefit the people of NSW.
We ensure matters submitted for Cabinet consideration are submitted in the right way, at the right time, in line with government priorities and are of the highest quality. We provide advice to the Premier on all proposals coming to Cabinet from agencies to ensure alignment to government priorities.
We work across the entire sector to support the functioning of the Cabinet system by providing strategic advice and leading on Cabinet practice, developing products and systems, and using our skills and experience to create solutions. We deal with the new and the novel with no two days being the same. We are highly responsive to requests from stakeholders, endeavour to always perform at a high standard and have a keen eye for detail.
We're Looking For

Cabinet Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience in Cabinet, parliamentary, policy or central government environments, with a sound understanding of the Westminster system, machinery of government and Cabinet processes

Strategic Advice: Demonstrated ability to analyse complex and sensitive issues, identify risks and emerging challenges, and deliver high-quality strategic advice to inform senior decision-making
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven capability to build trusted relationships, negotiating outcomes and influencing diverse stakeholders across government in high-pressure and politically sensitive environments

People Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, setting clear expectations and building capability in complex operational environments

Operational Delivery: Strong track record delivering complex work programs or projects simultaneously, maintaining high-quality outcomes while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines
