Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Curry & Tandoori Chef to join our Indian restaurant team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality authentic Indian curries, tandoori dishes, and other traditional menu items while maintaining excellent food quality, hygiene, and presentation standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian curries, gravies, sauces and masalas.
Prepare and cook tandoori dishes including chicken, lamb, seafood, kebabs, naan and other items.
Operate and maintain the tandoor safely and efficiently.
Prepare marinades, spice mixes and ingredients according to restaurant recipes.
Ensure consistent taste, quality, portion size and presentation.
Monitor food preparation and cooking times during busy service periods.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and workplace safety.
Store food and ingredients correctly and monitor freshness and stock levels.
Minimise food waste and maintain effective portion control.
Work efficiently as part of a kitchen team.
Assist with menu preparation and development when required.
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen and cooking area.
Follow all relevant food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
Assist with ordering and checking kitchen supplies when required.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as an Indian Curry or Tandoori Chef.
Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques and traditional dishes.
Experience working with a commercial tandoor.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Strong attention to detail and consistency.
Reliable, hardworking and able to work well within a team.
