Senior Policy Officer - Closing the Gap

Work on meaningful project and policy initiatives of Closing the Gap for the Aboriginal Language Trust
Bring your skills on navigating complex stakeholder relationships while delivering clear, timely policy advice on whole of Government issues
Temporary, Clerk Grade 9/10 opportunity ($129,464 - $142,665 per annum) until 1 August 2028, based in Mascot with flexible working options.

About the Role

The Senior Policy Officer, Closing the Gap, manages and coordinates the development, implementation, and delivery of a range of projects, policy initiatives, and reforms that support the NSW Government’s commitment to Target 16 of Closing the Gap. The role works within a small project team to develop, deliver, monitor, report on, and evaluate a portfolio of strategic and governance projects, ensuring project outcomes are achieved and organisational objectives are supported.

You will join our Aboriginal Affairs team within the Aboriginal language Trust branch. Further details on Aboriginal Language trust can be found here.

We're Looking For

Policy Project Management: Manage and coordinate allocated policy development, implementation and review projects to deliver improved policy directions and outcomes.
Policy Analysis and Advice: Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and develop evidence-based options and recommendations.
Expert Policy Guidance: Provide authoritative policy advice and information to stakeholders to support accurate interpretation, implementation and alignment with Agency and Government priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to enable collaboration, inform policy decision-making and support the development of practical policy solutions.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, evaluate and report on policy development and implementation to identify issues, manage risks and ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
Leadership and Capability Development: Mentor and guide policy officers and support staff, ensuring governance, quality standards and timely delivery of policy priorities and initiatives.
