The Senior Policy Officer, Closing the Gap, manages and coordinates the development, implementation, and delivery of a range of projects, policy initiatives, and reforms that support the NSW Government’s commitment to Target 16 of Closing the Gap. The role works within a small project team to develop, deliver, monitor, report on, and evaluate a portfolio of strategic and governance projects, ensuring project outcomes are achieved and organisational objectives are supported.

Policy Project Management: Manage and coordinate allocated policy development, implementation and review projects to deliver improved policy directions and outcomes.
Policy Analysis and Advice: Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and develop evidence-based options and recommendations.
Expert Policy Guidance: Provide authoritative policy advice and information to stakeholders to support accurate interpretation, implementation and alignment with Agency and Government priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to enable collaboration, inform policy decision-making and support the development of practical policy solutions.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, evaluate and report on policy development and implementation to identify issues, manage risks and ensure desired outcomes are achieved.

Leadership and Capability Development: Mentor and guide policy officers and support staff, ensuring governance, quality standards and timely delivery of policy priorities and initiatives.
