Bob Adams Lifting Pty Ltd (BAL) is a specialist engineering and inspection business based in Sydney, servicing aviation and heavy‑industry clients. We focus on compliant, OEM‑aligned inspection, testing, certification, and maintenance of lifting equipment and height‑safety systems.
We’re after two positions
1) an Inspection Technician who enjoys practical work, notices the small details, and takes pride in craftsmanship. If you can spot defects, prevent risk, and value doing things right the first time, you’ll fit in here.
2) Inspection Trade Assistance who enjoys practical work, ensure the day-to-day operation, presentation, and safety of the workshop, supports technicians, manages deliveries and collections, maintains cleanliness, prepares freight, and keeps the facility secure and ready. If you are initiative, responsibility, and strong attention to detail, you’ll fit in here.
Key Responsibilities for Inspection Technician:
- Carry out visual inspections on general lifting slings and equipment
- Carry out visual inspections on various height safety equipment
- Carry out visual inspections on specialized lifting equipment and tooling
- Carry out dimensional inspections as required
- Carry out preventative maintenance
- Carry out maintenance on various hoists and winches
- Carry out load testing on hoists, winches and tooling as required
- Carry out identification of serialized equipment including correlation of data
- Carry out setup and use of various machines and equipment
- Carry out and record findings on service reports (including parts and services completed)
- Carry out warehousing duties for equipment delivered and shipped to and from the facility
- Carry out housekeeping duties of the workshop weekly and monthly
- Demonstrate ability to comprehend task to be completed
- Demonstrate ability to complete task, start to finish
- Demonstrate ability to focus on solution orientation
- Demonstrate ability to communicate findings and concerns
- Demonstrate ability to work part of a small team
- Demonstrate ability to complete tasks in timely and professional manner

Key Responsibilities for Inspection Trade Assistant:
1. Opening Duties (Daily)
- Open roller door and set up workshop for the day.
- Open external bin(s) and position forklift outside (weather permitting).
- Conduct a quick walk‑around inspection for safety and readiness.
2. Logistics Support (Daily)
- Receive and unload incoming items using forklift or trolleys.
- Verify delivery documentation and check external condition of goods.
- Prepare and secure items for technician inspection.
- Vacuum/clean and prepare storage boxes as required.
- Remove unrequired/outdated labels and ensure paperwork matches items.
- Assist with internal logistics and item movements throughout the workshop.
3. Workshop Cleaning & Maintenance (Daily)
- Maintain clean work areas after each task completion.
- Return all tools and items to their designated storage locations.
- Wipe down benches and toolboxes as needed.
- Confirm with technicians prior to completing final clean.
4. Driving & External Logistics (Daily)
- Attend customer and supplier sites for deliveries/collections.
- Operate forklift or trolleys safely at off‑site locations, as required.
- Secure loads appropriately to company vehicles (van or truck).
- Maintain professional presentation and communication when representing the company externally.
5. Packing & Freight Preparation (Daily)
- Pack items in storage cases/boxes for return.
- Complete freight forwarding paperwork accurately.
- Ensure reports are inside tooling/cases prior to sealing.
- Affix labels and secure packages using straps, cable ties, or tape.
- Operate forklift or trolleys to move items to the delivery company.
- Liaise and confirm with Office Manager on dispatch status and paperwork.
6. Closing Duties (Daily)
- Return forklift inside and secure (forks down).
- Ensure bin is closed.
- Ensure roller door is fully down.
- Confirm workshop is locked and secure.
About You
The requirement for Suitable candidates
- Reliable / professional / punctual and engaging
- Current Driver’s license
- Able to confirm NON-Criminal record (ASIC check required)
- Good communication skills
- Reference check/s (required)
- Interstate travel (required)
- Able to work part of a small team
- Able to self-start/complete tasks unassisted
- Ability to complete Manual Handling tasks
- Complete a physical, visual, and audiometric assessment if required
- Completion of year 10 certificate / Year 12 equivalent
- Produce Trade certificate/s / technical qualifications
- Demonstrate mechanical, and industry aptitude
- Operate Hand tools and measuring devices
- Carry out and complete warehousing duties (receipt and dispatch)
- Carry out and complete housekeeping (weekly, monthly)
- Liaise with customers, suppliers as required
- Assist with deliveries to and from customer sites
- Non-smoker (preferred)
- Forklift license
- Dogman license/experience (preferred for Inspection Technician )
- EWP license (preferredfor Inspection Technician )
- Use of vector software (preferred for Inspection Technician)
- Use of AutoCAD (preferred for Inspection Technician)
- Experiences for Inspection, Maintenance and repair of Tooling/Equipment for aircraft (Preferred)
