About the Role
Excellent Laundry and Dry-Cleaning Services are seeking an experienced Mechanical
Engineering Technician to join our maintenance team at a large, high-volume commercial
laundry facility. This role is critical to ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation
of industrial laundry equipment, including washers, hydro extractors, and industrial dryers.
This position suits a technician with strong practical experience in industrial thermal systems,
machinery maintenance, and fault diagnosis, capable of working independently and
coordinating repairs to minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, maintain, and repair industrial washing machines, hydro extractors,
and industrial dryers
- Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and ventilation systems supporting laundry
machinery and production areas
- Perform urgent troubleshooting and emergency breakdown repairs, particularly
involving industrial dryers and thermal systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electromechanical faults using technical manuals,
schematics, and manufacturer documentation
- Replace and repair components including motors, belts, bearings, blowers, heating
elements, sensors, switches, contactors, and control devices
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with maintenance
schedules
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective, long-term
solutions
- Assist with testing and recommissioning of equipment following repairs or
adjustments
- Ensure machinery operates safely and in compliance with workplace health and safety
requirements
- Coordinate with production supervisors and management during urgent repair
situations
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and fault reports
- Provide technical guidance and oversight where required during maintenance
activitiesSkills and Experience
- Formal training or trade qualifications in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration,
Mechanical Systems, or a related technical discipline
- Extensive hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial
mechanical and thermal equipment
- Strong knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, and electromechanical systems
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair faults in industrial machinery
- Experience working in continuous-operation or industrial production environments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and under pressure during breakdown situations
- Good communication skills and experience coordinating with supervisors and
operational staff
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience working with high-capacity industrial dryers and thermal systems
- Exposure to automated or semi-automated industrial equipment
- Experience in continuous-operation or shift-based production environments
