The Role

The Sterilisation Technician is responsible for the collection, decontamination, preparation, testing, and packaging of reusable medical devices (RMDs) to ensure they meet required quality and safety standards. The role involves performing terminal disinfection and sterilisation processes, maintaining accurate documentation and records, and ensuring strict compliance with Safe Work Procedures, Work Instructions, and relevant industry standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting infection prevention and the safe delivery of patient care across the hospital.

Today, Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospitals’ state of the art facilities and professional staff provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services for the public and community, including a 24 hour emergency services, general medicine including close observation unit, perioperative services, specialist hand and eye surgery.

The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney:

Directly across the road from Martin Place and St James Station
Walking distance to various Bus stops
The light rail is a walking distance on George St and the metro station
Walking distance Ferry Terminal at Circular Quay
For Staff who drive to work, subsidised parking is available on site

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

Essential flexiblity to work within a 7 day, 24 hour rotating roster.

Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural working group.

Current/recent experience of not less than 12 continous months within a hospital based Sterilizing Services Unit.

Possession of a Sterilizing Technology Certificate from a recognized Australian based registered tertiary training organisation.
